"The job went very well. John worked with us by performing the work over three move-ins so that we were able to use most of our house during the process. The level of quality is very good including cement floated floors over wood and hot mop tar for waterproofing in the shower. The layout for the tile pattern was right on and Johns recommendations are good and should followed. I am a licensed contractor in another trade so I have a good understanding of doing a job right with a critical eye for workmanship."
"First of all, this guy is a certificated ARBORIST! He knows trees! This was very important to me. I didn't want "some guy with a chainsaw" to tell me the trees had to come down. After looking over the trees and their location, he told me that the trees would continue their secondary growth and that growth would push up the pavers in the yard, and even if the pavers were reinstalled the secondary growth would push them up again over time. He gave me some options to consider. He is based out of central Orange County and because of distance, he declined to do work in Bellflower which was disappointing. "

After receiving home improvement magazine in the mail, my husband and I decided that it was time we had our bathroom remodeled. We had called a few companies and one of them just happened to be "your Favorite Contractor", with a name like that how could you not want to call. We called them up to set up an appointment and had a time set for a design consultation. We met with Mike the head designer and let me tell you, I was delighted by the ideas and suggestion he had come up with, as opposed to others he listened to what we wanted and just tweaked the design to make it more user friendly, even the price was appealing. we then set a date to start and two weeks later we had a completed new bathroom that we just love. " Wes is the owner of the company and is hands-on at every juncture. He and his crew were professional and responsive. His initial bid was about 20% more than comparable, but we elected to go with his company as we were interested in a high-quality build. I must say - I believe we got more than what we paid for. The finished product is amazing. The quality of Wes' work is unmatched. He makes sure that everything is done right - down to all the structural and grading details that may not be evident from the surface. It took three months for him to start our job, but he was up front and honest about this when he gave us the bid. He states that he only takes one job on at a time and I can confirm that this is the case as his crew was at our house almost every day. I say almost every day since our job had a number of delays by the heavy rains this winter. Our yard used to mini-flood with each heavy rain making it difficult to do any construction in when wet. The drainage now is amazing with no more lakes in our yard after the rain. He worked with us on all the details of the design including grass and plant selection, stone selection (pavers, stone for the side of the island, and granite for the top of the island), and light selection. The building inspector commented on how well the gas lines, water pipes, drainage, and electrical were done. We have a new house and the project construction superintendent came over to see what we were doing and commented "wow, this guy does things the right way". There were several curveballs that popped up throughout the job that Wes dealt with very professionally. There were delays due to rain as mentioned, but also due to the granite fabricator making an error and the granite had to be completely re-cut and re-done (no additional cost to us of course) and the built-in BBQ had to then be tweaked to fit the re-cut granite. Wes was sure to fix everything and his words were always "I want you to be completely happy with everything". I certainly am. I will be using his company again in the future for sure as we also have a side yard to do later this year. I am not sure to convey how impressed I am with the quality of work and professionalism that Wes and his company deliver. Don't dismiss the higher price of his bid. You get what you pay for. I have neighbors that used cut-rate contractors and they have had major headaches and are not happy with their experiences. I am happy to tell Wes that I am completely happy with my experience.
"From the time I contacted Kevin to the time the job was completed, SGB was fantastic. I needed a very small master bathroom in an old house gutted and built from the ground up. As this is a rental, my budget was very limited. Kevin told me what he could do and what I would provide so he could meet the price I requested. Kevin, along with his team worked miracles. There were some plumbing issues that came up and Kevin handled all of them by communicating with me and giving me honest and accurate estimates of how much time this would put us back. Not living in the house while the work was being performed was a new thing for me and I was nervous about workers being in the home when I was not. My fears were unfounded. Kevin and his team only used the french door leading to the bedroom and taped the bedroom door closed so dust and people couldn't use the rest of the house. The work site was kept spotless. The master bath turned out more beautifully than I could have imagined. Amazing results with the budget I gave him. As with any project, things go wrong ~ and they did in this case also. The door was put on "backwards", swinging the opposite way we had talked about. I called Kevin and he was out there within a couple days to completely redo it. It was a whole day job and he and his team completed it beautifully and timely, even though I know it affected his schedule. I plan to use SGB for renovations to my new home.
