"Will was able to come over on a Sunday and moved a thermostat which required getting up into the attic and moving wiring. He even helped me move the artwork to this spot where the thermostat had been."

"Rigo's team has been working on our house for about a year. Projects ranged from installing hardwood floors, replacing all windows, adding recessed lighting, to full-scale remodels of three bathrooms and a rip and replace kitchen. Rigo is godsent when it comes to complex remodeling projects for novices like me. Not only does he do a great job, but he's also proactive. He anticipates potential issues and resolves them ahead of time. Any unexpected setbacks were met with grace and ended up getting resolved in the end. Rigo is receptive to feedback and takes pride in his work. He's also honest - if he doesn't have the skills to do something (which is rare) he mentions it right away and helps find a qualified tradesman to it correctly. Overall, I am very thankful we found him and I'll continue to hire him for any upcoming projects."

"I found SR construction through Angie's list. Honestly I became a member of Angie's list just for this larg e construction project and have found it very beneficial so far. Shaun Rang the owner of SR contacted me right away and came over to inspect the project and provide an estimate. I found him to be very professional, honest and straight-forward and to the point. He seemed to also have some good artistic sense and gave me good ideas on colors, themes etc. I then got references from him and called one of them. Actually the day I called the reference, she was on her way back from the funeral home but still took a few minutes to talk to me about her experience with SR and I was really impressed that she thought so highly of him and the company that she would take the time from a funeral. God bless her heart. I also checked the prices on the quote versus my own costs (I am an engineer and consider myself pretty good with numbers especially on complex projects). My own costs were about 20% lower than Shaun's which I explained to him. He had told me upfront that his costs would likely be about 15-20% higher than the average contractor but he really focused on the quality of the work and also used american workers that he has worked with for many years. I really wanted to make sure that I used the american labor for my job since I did want to do the right thing to help out other hard working families. Based on the reference and estimates I began the job. Shaun and his crew would show up everyday exactly at 8am as promised and work hard through the day usually finishing around 4-5pm depending on the tasks for the day. The crew was very professional, hard working and clean. They always made sure to cleanup at the end of the day. The project lasted a couple of weeks longer than we had originally planned (plan was for 4 weeks but took 6). Actually the reason for the delay was because of my mistake and not shaun's. My wife decided to skip the all important step of actually choosing the granite slabs from Sosa granite, Livermore and she found out that Sosa decided to install Kashmir white instead of Kashmir gold granite in the master bath which was not the right color. Shaun and Sosa could have easily have washed their hands off this because it was clearly our fault for not checking but instead they were completely professional and decided to completely remove the brand new Kashmir white granite and reinstall the Kashmir gold that we wanted. This caused a few days delay in the project because Sosa was backed up. However I though this was very professional and well done by Shaun and Sosa and commend them for it. They did not charge us a cent for this mistake. When Shaun started remodeling the downstairs bath he found a lot of water damage from years of a bad job done by the previous contractor. Even though this damage was not in the original estimate, he took the time and effort to completely strip down the dry wall down to the studs and redo the job properly. I am very thankful to SR for this. I also am confident that if I do have any issues in the future I can count on Shaun to come in and take care of it in a timely manner. Overall I am very happy with the job done by Shaun and his team and would highly recommend them to anyone. I will definitely use him for other jobs at home. As with any projects, take the time to plan the project materials and cost upfront with him and you wont be disappointed. I also used a flooring guy recommended by Shaun for the new Brazilian Tigerwood floors in my bonus room as well as new carpet upstairs (Gabe from Nor-Cal Flooring in Discovery Bay). Gabe also was very professional and did an excellent job at a very good price."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

Your bathroom exhaust fan shouldn't be loud. However, bath fans come in a wide variety of models, price points, and loudness characteristics, and yours may be louder or quieter than others you notice. Economy models tend to be the noisiest, with levels of 4.0 sones or more, which is about the sound of an electric shaver, while some high-end models can be barely audible.

If your fan blades are spinning and there is no airflow, your blade pitch may be too flat, or your motor is failing. Adjusting the pitch is a simple DIY task if you have the tools. A failing motor is a bigger problem. You may need to replace your ceiling fan altogether. But fret not, we’ve got a guide for that!

Stainless steel or aluminum fans are long-lasting and have less air resistance. They are best for outdoor use as their durability helps them withstand unpleasant weather conditions. Their heavy weight requires a stronger motor, which leads to more noise than other blade materials.

Wooden fan blades are a classic, durable option. They are much quieter than metal fans and feature a wide range of styles and finishes to choose from. However, they can be damaged by moisture if not covered with plastic.

Plastic fan blades are lightweight, easy to clean, and versatile. There are various shapes and styles to choose from as plastic is easily molded and dyed. They will also deteriorate slower than other materials as they aren’t as susceptible to humidity and moisture.

There are many types of ceiling fans, each with specific features and advantages. Standard ceiling fans are a traditional choice suitable for most spaces and can be made from materials like plastic, wood, metal, or fiberboard. For rooms with low ceilings, low-profile fans are a better fit. Other specialized types include smart fans, which you can control with a smartphone or voice commands, and dual-motor fans that provide increased airflow in multiple directions. For energy savings, Energy-Star certified fans can be up to 60% more efficient than standard models, helping to lower your utility bill. You can also find fans with built-in lights, fans with retractable blades, and large ceiling fans designed for spacious rooms with ceilings between 10 and 25 feet high.

While ceiling fans are built for regular use, running them continuously without breaks can lead to overheating and wear over time. If your fan has a thermal shutoff feature, it may stop running to protect the motor. To extend their lifespan, it’s best to turn fans off when they’re not needed.
