"Finding a reputable landscaper in the Coachella valley proved to be a challenge. We interviewed six candidates for our pavers, landscaping & electrical needs. From the moment we met with Emmanuel, it was evident he not only knew his craft but above all, he graciously agreed to collaborate with us from start to finish. Being a good listener who was willing to partner on a shared vision was vitally important to us along with good communication throughout the installation. He takes your calls and responds to texts promptly and courteously, Having been in business just over a decade, he along with his brothers Daniel & Miguel, form a terrific team of professionals. For our backyard, they worked tirelessly and always with a cheerful & friendly disposition. In summation, the service provided by Elâ s landscaping was superb and I highly recommend them- 5 stars!"

"Hector is a young creative landscaper with new ideas. He asks you what you want in the design process and works out the layout. Also, reccomends what will work and what won't. After the completion he will go over what we like and what we would like to add on. We are very happy with the results and have had many compliments from out community."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Certain towns and homeowner associations (HOAs) ban brick mailboxes because of the risk of obstruction. They are sometimes only permitted in cases where four or more homes share a mailbox. Homeowners may need to obtain special permits in some locations. One of the top masonry contractor hiring tips is to ask a local pro if they can show you examples of recent work that meets local code regulations.

Yes, you can technically use a pressure washer to remove paint from brick, but it comes with a significant risk of damaging the brick surface. A high-power pressure washer can be fast but may leave the brick looking unsightly. The recommended method is to first apply a chemical paint stripper, following the product's instructions, and then use a stiff metal bristle brush or a pressure washer on a low-pressure setting to remove the loosened paint. Due to the risk of damage, it is often best to hire a professional who can use low-stress methods.

When painting brick, each application method has pros and cons. Spraying is much faster but may not penetrate the porous surface of the bricks. Rolling is effective for getting paint into the bricks but doesn't work as well on the mortar. Brushing is very time-consuming and also won't penetrate beyond the surface. For the best results, a combination of spraying and rolling is often recommended. If you use a roller, choose a thick option (at least a half-inch) and ensure the paint gets into all the crevices for even coverage.

Whether you’re installing brick siding over a traditionally-framed home or you’re using genuine brick construction to build, the biggest downside of a brick house is the higher cost you’ll pay for the materials and labor. Real brick construction also means your home build will take longer, as it’s more time-consuming to construct brick walls than it is to frame out your home.
