Small jobs welcome

"I had a great experience with Eagle Automatic Gate & Door !They installed a brand new driveway gate with a liftmaster motor, and everything turned out exactly how I envisioned. Itay was professional, punctual, and really paid attention to the details. The motor works smoothly, and the gate looks amazing?solid build and clean finish. I also appreciated how they walked me through the system and made sure everything was working before they left."

Customers say: Quality work

"Isaiah came to give an estimate to fix our Iron gates, I liked it, and he fixed it right away. It was good work. Later that same day, I found out that our gate latch is not staying in tact easily which he fixed. I left him a message to come back to adjust the latch but I haven't heard from him. For time being it is okay, but the latch needs to be re-adjusted a bit, so I hope he comes back to fix it."

"TerraVenti installed new solar panels on my house. I’m surprised on how quick the turn around time was for installation. I’m saving over $100 on electricity a month from the solar panel. This money will be saved for my son’s college education fund. It was a win-win decision."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

This largely depends on the layout of your property and your preferred walking route to various entryways. Take your time figuring out the perfect spot for the gate to avoid difficulties later on. With all this said, the best place to put a gate is an area free from obstructions that offer the shortest route to your house.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Generally, the standard 10- to 12-inch-long and 1- to 1.5-inch-diameter gate springs will work. However, if you have an especially wide, thick, or heavy garden gate, you may need to opt for a longer, broader—and pricier—model to ensure secure closure and good longevity. These typically range between 12 and 16 inches long and are over 1.5 inches in diameter.

Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.
