Small jobs welcome

"I had a great experience with Eagle Automatic Gate & Door !They installed a brand new driveway gate with a liftmaster motor, and everything turned out exactly how I envisioned. Itay was professional, punctual, and really paid attention to the details. The motor works smoothly, and the gate looks amazing?solid build and clean finish. I also appreciated how they walked me through the system and made sure everything was working before they left."

Customers say: Quality work

"Isaiah came to give an estimate to fix our Iron gates, I liked it, and he fixed it right away. It was good work. Later that same day, I found out that our gate latch is not staying in tact easily which he fixed. I left him a message to come back to adjust the latch but I haven't heard from him. For time being it is okay, but the latch needs to be re-adjusted a bit, so I hope he comes back to fix it."

"TerraVenti installed new solar panels on my house. I’m surprised on how quick the turn around time was for installation. I’m saving over $100 on electricity a month from the solar panel. This money will be saved for my son’s college education fund. It was a win-win decision."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

Ideally, a gate should be able to swing both in and out. However, if it can only open in one direction, it is generally best for it to swing inward. This is often the safest option, especially for deck gates near steps, as you'll want the gate to swing away from the stairs. An inward swing also prevents the gate from opening into a public space, like a sidewalk, and can be more convenient when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

There are exceptions, however. The layout of your property may require a different approach. For example, if your property is on a slope, the gate may not be able to swing inward. You should also ensure the gate can open fully without colliding with any objects or blocking access to other areas. For a backyard garden gate where public access isn't a concern, the direction it swings is largely a matter of personal preference. Finally, always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements for which way a gate must swing.

Is your wrought iron gate really rusty or in need of major repair work? Replacing it with a gate with built-in privacy screening may be easier and, in some cases, more economical. Professional fence or gate repair costs average $100 to $400, and you may be able to get a new gate for the same price.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Wood, wrought iron, aluminum, and steel are common materials. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and maintenance needs.

Instead of a security door, you might opt for a heavy-duty screen door made from durable mesh, which allows better sunlight and airflow. Additionally, you could enhance security by installing strong locks on your existing door. A double-cylinder deadbolt provides robust security; however, be aware that some local laws prohibit them due to safety concerns during emergencies.
