"I had a horrible experience with Temperature Control. My AC stopped working on July 3rd 2023, I hired Temperature Control to diagnose the issue. I already suspected it was the blower fan motor, and Tony the Tech from Temperature Control confirmed my suspicion. However, he made it sound like a nightmare, claiming it was a rare "legacy" part that would be extremely difficult and expensive to obtain. He even went so far as to say he couldn't provide an accurate estimate. After disappearing into his truck, Tony returned with what he called "4 options" for me, each with shockingly high prices ranging from $2,186.43 to a staggering $21,874. The fixed included a $701.55 charge to clean the blower wheel. As if that wasn't enough, he then tried to convince me to purchase a completely new AC system, persisting for about 30 minutes. Seeing through their tactics, I told them I needed time to think and sent them away. Refusing to be taken advantage of, I decided to call another company for a second opinion. They promptly examined my AC and fixed the issue for a mere $560, which included a simple cleaning of the blower wheel using a basic hose. I asked the other company if it was a hard blower motor to obtain and they stated that it was the most common motor. In my opinion, Temperature Control operates in bad faith, preying on people in vulnerable situations. Their attempt to exploit my urgent need for AC repair by proposing exorbitant prices and pushing unnecessary replacements is utterly despicable. I strongly advise others to steer clear of this company and seek more honest and reputable alternatives."

First, find the cleanout pipe in your yard. Unscrew the cap—you may need a wrench to do so. Then, get a drain snake. You can use a non-motorized one, but a motorized snake will make the job a little easier. Feed the snake through the pipe until it reaches the clog. Spin the snake continuously, but don’t try to feed it through the pipe anymore. Keep spinning until you feel it break the clog apart.

Toilet paper is the only material that you should flush down toilets. Other items like wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, dental floss, and medications should be disposed of in the trash. Flushing these items can lead to plumbing issues and damage to sewage systems. Grease and cooking oils should also be avoided as they can solidify in pipes, causing blockages. Proper disposal helps prevent clogs and ensures the efficient operation of wastewater treatment systems while protecting the environment.

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up. 

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

If a toilet is not properly vented, you could experience issues like poor drainage, slow flushing, frequent clogs, malfunctioning traps, gurgling noises, and the release of sewer gasses. If left untreated, all of these issues could lead to longer term structural damage or (in the case of sewer gasses) harmful health side effects.

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.
