"I had an old sink faucet and was referred to Plumbing By Dre by a friend of mine. Dre was quick to respond and was able to come same day to complete my request. During the installation he showed me how much calcium buildup was inside of my fixtures and educated me on the benefits of water filtration and the differences between the products that are available. I plan to hire him again when I am ready for a water filtration install and I trust that Plumbing by Dre will be the best one for the job!"

"Regal Bath and Kitchens did a beautiful job remodeling our master bathroom. We wanted to get rid of the bathtub, the tiny shower, and the 90’s style lower vanity with the massive mirror. We didn’t even think there was room to do all that we wanted but their end result made the room look larger than it was . Best of all, this was at a price we could afford. Rich helped us get things started by meeting at the showroom to see styles on display and to pick out tiles for the floor and walls. We could see the samples for the vanity, the sinks and the fixtures. It made it easier to coordinate things when we could see how everything looked together, and we were able to select exactly what we wanted in each area. We did have to choose a second tile by going to Floor and Décor later on because our wall tile was out of stock, but the replacement one was beautiful and the sales lady there also helped us coordinate things. The remodel included removing a wall and some other decorative arches in the bathroom. They had to move the water pipes for the shower. The shower included so many nice features – a bench, a toe pick near the shower heads, two shower heads – a rain style one and a hand held one – a switch to use one or both heads at the same time, a niche for toiletries, and the controls to turn the water on near the entrance to the shower so it was warm by the time we got into the shower. They also agreed to install new light fixtures, towel racks and mirrors which we purchased elsewhere. They suggested that we hire others to paint the walls for us. They did an exception job with the plumbing. The slope of the floor in the shower is just right so that all the water runs into the drain and the drain is big enough that it has never gotten clogged. Whenever, we had a problem or concern, Rich was reassuring saying that he would take care of everything we wanted. The crew was proud of the work they did and were always cheerful to have working in our home. John was especially careful of keeping the dust off our rugs and in the master bathroom area. Every day he carefully covered the beds with plastic so they could be used at night. Jesus worked exceptionally hard getting the tiles on the bottom of the shower installed. The end result has received a “Wow” from everyone who sees it. We would hire them again to remodeled our hall bath."

"An incredibly great experience. I was contacted by email within about 15 minutes of my request, asking if it would be okay to drop by the same afternoon because I said my timing was flexible. I said yes. Because he knew the faucet was going to be replaced, he had the foresight to shut off the water supply on the side of the garage before coming into the back yard. It all took about 10 to 15 minutes. I had tried myself to replace the faucet (went to Lowe's and bought one), but there was no way I could get the old one off after using WD40 and when that didn't work, used a torch. It still didn't come off. I thought I better call a professional. It was amazing to watch him do in about 10 minutes what would've taken me forever, if at all. Also asked him about how much it might be to install a new outside faucet. He gave me a general estimate and it sounded reasonable, so will probably ask him to do that also in the near future."

"I called American Discount Plumbing to install a under the sink garbage disposal for me in the kitchen.I called Pavel on Monday and he came over to assess the situation and got an idea of what he had to get in materials etc and he came over Tuesday morning and did my job.A matter of fact he called me and asked me if he could come over a little early and that was really helpful! He got started promptly and took out all the old plumbing and had to install all new plumbing because my plumbing wasn't set up for a garbage disposal. He got it all in and checked for leaks and made sure everything was working properly. He even put in a new drain on the other side for no extra charge! He put all of his garbage in a plastic bag and cleaned up after himself.I have not one negative comment about the quality of service i got.Pavel is a quality oriented professional and he's great on the price too! He's the only plumber i have in my phone book.

"Ace had installed an A/C unit for me about 7-8 years ago and that was the unit that broke down. The good: The tech was friendly, knowledgeable and got the job done quickly. He was very helpful in helping me get this covered by my home warranty company. The bad: 1) Tech showed up 5 to 6 hours later than originally scheduled. I don't have a problem with that but needed to put a bad grade on it. 2) The office was difficult to work with in getting their cooperation in working with my home warranty company. Their policy is that they do not work with home warranty companies. Eventually they were cooperative given that I was paying for the services and that my home warranty company would reimburse me. 3) The pricing was outrageous in my opinion. I paid $950 for 2 capacitors, a spliced wire and about 1 to 1.5 hours of labor. I understand there is a bunch of overhead cost and labor costs, however, $950 seems to be excessively high. Fortunately my home warranty company covered this cost. In summary, I was mostly disappointed in the high cost given that I was a previous customer. I was also disappointed with the difficulty I had in getting them to cooperate with my home warranty company when there was no risk of financial payment to Ace. I will not use Ace for any of my homes in the future."

"My kitchen drain had a clog that, no matter what I tried, would not break loose. It took overnight for any water in the sink to slowly seep out. I had never hired All Star Plumbing but their reviews were outstanding and the business is close to my home so I called and set up an appointment with Robert. He and Scott showed up, listened to my story then went to work. It took no time at all for Robert to pull up what looked like a very large clump of fiber. No hint as to what that was but it's gone now and my drain is working as it should. Before they left, Robert cleaned up the gunk that inevitably spills on the work area and I think it's cleaner than when he started. Thank you to All Star Plumbing for being responsive and getting the job done for me. Prices are reasonable as well which is icing on the cake!"

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

A good option for opening up and cleaning a sink drain is to use a ¼ cup of baking soda and 1 cup of white vinegar, along with a rubber stopper to cover the drain while those materials work their magic. After about 15 minutes, you can flush the drain with hot water. In many cases, these materials can scrub out minor clogs and get the drain working properly again. If the issue persists, call in a plumber near you to get the problem permanently fixed.

Hairline cracks—tiny cracks in the surface—in porcelain sinks can happen due to age, chemical damage from cleaning products, dropping heavy objects on the sink, thermal shock from drastic temperature changes, stress during repairs, and manufacturing errors. Hairline cracks often start very small and grow longer and wider over time. While they may appear problematic, hairline cracks don’t indicate structural problems and may not impact the performance of sinks. However, they can eventually cause water leaks and mold growth if left to grow.

Deteriorated seals, O-rings, or gaskets are common culprits behind a leaky sink after you’ve turned off the water—especially if your sink is older than 15 years. Inspect each of these mechanisms in your sink for signs of corrosion or looseness, then replace the worn-out part to fix it. Older sinks may be worth replacing if several of the parts are worn-out.

Try to tighten the clevis crew and adjust the lift rod if your sink stopper won’t stay up. Sometimes your screws became too loose over time, and as a result, there wasn’t enough resistance to keep the sink stopper up. If a damaged lift rod is the cause of the problem, you will need to replace it with a new rod.

Older faucet fixtures may have some corrosion, leaving them stuck. Try a few techniques to loosen the fixtures.

  • Wrap the fixture with a towel and tap the base with a hammer.

  • Use a putty knife to gently remove any caulk that may be holding the handle or fixture in place.

  • Apply a few drops of penetrating oil around the base of the fixture or around the nuts.

  • Purchase a faucet pulling tool to pop the fixture loose.
