Our formula for success has always been to create lasting relationships with our customers by being a dependable and enjoyable company to work with. This requires more than just construction knowledge. It requires a management style that fosters open communication and a high level of trust. It requires consistent and dependable performance. It requires ownership of our customers’ vision and dedication to their goals. We hold ourselves to a higher level of accountability than most contractors. If our past clients cannot enthusiastically recommend us to our next client, then we have failed.

"This store is a joke. Both times I have tried to do curbside pick up with them I've been greeted with really rude, angry employees. No exception today. I called the store and asked for a manager, I got an acting store manager on the phone who was just about as rude as she could be. At one point she was telling me they didn't charge for orders until they're complete. I told her I was looking at my bank statement online where the money was taken out, she said no, it's just not true. I'm done with this store simply due to the crappy service provided by the employees/acting managers. So much for supporting your local Ace Hardware. Never again. 3 times you're out."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. The less intensive labor makes concrete a more affordable option in most cases.

Yes, but used or reclaimed bricks can be more brittle, cracked, or uneven than new bricks, so they’re harder to cut cleanly by hand. For that reason, you should take extra care when scoring and striking, and expect a higher chance of breakage. If a brick feels especially fragile, score deeper before attempting to split it.

Certain towns and homeowner associations (HOAs) ban brick mailboxes because of the risk of obstruction. They are sometimes only permitted in cases where four or more homes share a mailbox. Homeowners may need to obtain special permits in some locations. One of the top masonry contractor hiring tips is to ask a local pro if they can show you examples of recent work that meets local code regulations.

A chimney cleaning brick or log can help loosen creosote between professional chimney cleaning appointments. Although they can help keep your chimney cleaner, they are not a substitute for chimney sweeping and are not meant to be used regularly.

Minor hairline cracks in mortar are normal over time. This is a natural occurrence as bricks settle. You should worry about cracks in brick if you see vertical cracks that widen as they move up, stair-step cracks, L-shaped cracks, or deep horizontal cracks. These are all more serious signs of foundation damage.
