"My A/C stopped working about two weeks ago, I was able to call Dynamic Air Services and have a technician diagnose the issue within two days. Unfortunately, there were issues not only with the A/C unit but the entire HVAC system (furnace included). This was confirmed by two other reputable companies. We decided to replace the whole system and the price was on par with other quotes and the install was pretty painless (one day for most of it, wrapped up the second morning with system testing in the afternoon). I would hire again. Thank you Dan and Adam for your help getting everything up and running again!"

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. In fact, not only are AC tuneups worth it, but they’re actually necessary to keep your air conditioner in good condition, improve its efficiency, and potentially prevent major damage. Experts recommend getting a tuneup at least once per year. In most cases, you’ll want to schedule it during the spring so that you can address any issues before the hottest months of the year.

Yes. It's not just AC filters that get dirty. Ducts can accumulate dust and dirt quickly. Insects and animals can also get into duct systems, creating many problems. Dirt build-up and unwanted guests can constrict the airflow and cause rooms not to cool evenly. You might also see higher energy bills because they're not working as efficiently.

Yes. Your air supply should be balanced. The return and supply ducts need to maintain that balance, and this only occurs because an equal amount of air should be entering and leaving your HVAC system. Changes in pressure, extreme weather, and blocking vents with furniture or your stuff can make the air supply unbalanced and cause your home to get too cold or hot.

Here’s how AC professionals will clean your AC coils:

  1. Unplug the AC unit or turn off the breaker to the unit in your circuit breaker box.

  2. Remove the faceplate.

  3. Spray a vacuum hose attachment or compressed air can to remove debris, dust, dirt, and grime.

  4. Use a soft-bristled fin comb to remove stubborn caked-on debris.

  5. Use the vacuum hose to suck up any extra debris.

  6. Take a coil-safe cleaning solution and spray it onto the coils. Try to choose a no-rinse solution.

  7. Let the solution sit for at least 15 minutes.

  8. Gently wipe away loosened grime and debris with a microfiber cloth.

  9. Reattach the faceplate, plug in your AC system, or turn the breaker back on.

There are a few things you can do to make your AC repair technician’s job easier and your home more comfortable while you wait for AC repair:

  • Cut back trees, shrubs, and weeds around the outdoor compressor

  • Clear a pathway inside and outside to your AC components

  • Set up a ladder for attic access if necessary

  • Pull your window AC out of the window and place in an easily accessible spot

  • Supplement with fans and open windows to help keep your house comfortable
