During demo they exposed a lot of unexpected concrete that had to be broken up and hauled away. He asked if I could help with the added dump fees - I agreed and he only added the actual dump cost on the final bill. Very happy with how everything turned out."

"Great!! Mike came by on a Sunday and diagnosed the problem. Mike provided an estimate and said he could be here the next day to remove the valves for repair. He was here on Monday and removed the valves. Made a new set of valves ant home on Monday evening and installed on Tuesday. The system worked better, but required some troubleshooting of the entire old drip system, which Mike and his crew did without hesitation. They were terrific!!!!!!!!"

It’s technically possible to install your own patio, but we don’t recommend it. Installing a patio is labor- and time-intensive, and getting the end product to look professional demands patience and experience. In many cases, you will need a building permit for your patio, but it depends on the type of patio. Generally speaking, any improvements to your land considered “permanent” will require a permit. Since a concrete patio is a permanent foundation, you will need a permit. On the other hand, a paver patio or flagstone patio usually sits over gravel and sand, are considered “temporary” improvements, and rarely require permits. To be safe, you should always ask your building department or your patio company if a permit will be necessary.

A concrete porch costs about $2 to $10 per square foot upfront, while a wood porch costs about $4 to $30 per square foot, making concrete less expensive upfront. However, wood requires much more maintenance than concrete, so you’ll need to consider the costs of staining, painting, and resealing the porch every few years, which makes wood more expensive in the long run.

It is generally cheaper to build a concrete patio versus a brick patio. Basic concrete costs around $8 to $15 per square foot, while a brick patio typically ranges from $10 to $20 per square foot. The cost difference comes down to both materials and labor—pouring and finishing concrete is faster than placing each brick by hand. Brick pavers look great and last long, but they’ll cost more up front. If you’re looking to keep your budget in check without sacrificing function, concrete is usually the more cost-effective choice.
