"Bono did a great job on the floor and did it quickly. He suggested another change which I wasn't planning but it was the best decision ever. My new stone wall looks fantastic. Bono is such a great guy and easy to work with."

"Dustin and crew, Justin and Chance, did a great job on tiling our M/Bdrm shower. The estimate was clear, all questions answered and straight-forward about costs not covered. They were on time everyday, courteous and took extra effort to clean up after each day. Excellent job, great work!! I would recommend them and have to everyone that has asked. Having been through one bathroom remodel that was a complete disaster, this one went smoother that I could have hoped for."

"Angi sent me two very qualified businesses and was difficult to decide. Floor Coverings International was exceptional and very informative, had a broad selection of flooring examples. Eventuallly it boiled down to PRICE and DATE WORK CAN BE DONE. The price came down to just a $300 difference but job dates were weeks apart and I took the soonest one."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

Uniform spacing between tiles is important for a professional and clean appearance. To achieve this spacing, tile spacers should be placed between the tiles and left in place until the mortar hardens and the tiles are secure. You can use X-shaped spacers vertically in between the tiles and laid flat at the corners.

Yes, you can tile over existing shower tiles, but it's better to remove the old tiles first for the best results. Tiling over existing tiles requires a clean, level surface and proper adhesion. If the old tiles are in good condition, you can roughen the surface to improve adhesion. However, removing the old tiles ensures a smoother, longer-lasting finish and prevents potential issues down the line.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.
