"The only positive interaction was when the scaffolding crew started their prep work. Lath crew is fast at putting up house wrap incorrectly (against code and manufacturer directions) and covering it up quickly with EPS. Lath was installed hastily, with no regard for building codes, and against owner directions. Crew rarely shows up, promises to return to fix blatant issues, and inconsistently returns to continue lath installation on other areas. The owner or site supervisor is defensive and doesn’t believe in house wrap. Poor management, false promises, and appalling workmanship is the best Eddie and Sons could provide on our project."

"I wish they had given us a bit more information when asking where we wanted the gate and how that effects the placement of the double connecting poles, We wound up having a set of connecting poles right in the middle of our greatroom picture window which was not acceptable. It cost an additional $800 to change the layout of the fence to move the double poles out of view from the greatroom. I little more time explaining the layout based on our gate location choice and we would have selected a different location for the gate. The $1700 project turned out to be $2500."

If you only use your gate as a pedestrian, walking through without a vehicle, you’re fine to stick with a single fence gate. If your fence opening needs to accommodate vehicles of any kind, from cars to trucks to 4-wheelers, then a double fence gate will suit the space much better and give you more freedom. 

The distance between fence posts depends on the type of fence you’re installing. Wood and metal fence posts should be between 5 feet and 8 feet apart. Chain-link fence posts can be closer together at 4 feet apart, or the spacing can be up to 10 feet apart. Vinyl fence posts can be between 6 feet and 8 feet apart, and wire fence posts can be up to 12 feet apart.

You can use pressure-treated wood for a horizontal fence, but you’ll need to purchase a thicker and higher-quality variety to ensure it doesn’t sag or warp after you install it. Use #2 pine grade lumber and boards and thicker dimensional lumber, such as a two-by-six. You’ll also need to use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, as the chemicals in the treated lumber will cause regular galvanized fasteners to rust. 

You should dig a trench that’s 6 to 8 inches deep so that when the silt fence stands up, it has at least 6 inches below ground. It’s important to firmly bury your silt fence into the trench you’ve dug to keep water from running underneath the fence into the pile of soil you’re containing. 

Because this composite fencing and deck material is made from both wood and plastic, it’s more durable than either alone. It’s so popular for outdoor purposes because it really does stand the test of time. Heavy rain and high heat won’t greatly change its structural integrity; it can last up to 25 years in total with proper care.
