Rounded countertop edges, like bullnose or eased edges, are the least likely to chip. Fortunately, there are many types of heatproof countertops. Granite, quartzite, concrete, and stainless steel are all fiery contenders. These surfaces work best in busy kitchens where hot pots, pans, and baking sheets are part of the daily routine. Plus, their durability means you get a long-lasting work surface that won’t flinch at a bit of heat or heavy use. However, many stone and concrete counters require a sealer, which is typically not heatproof.

The resin should be periodically sealed to help prevent it from wearing down or becoming porous. Very sharp or very hot objects can damage the resin surface, and there’s no way to fully repair it if that happens, so we recommend treating the counters well.

Ideally, a pot filler should not be centered but rather installed to the left or right of the cooking surface to avoid having to reach over the hot area to access it. If this arrangement isn't possible, you can technically center a pot filler above the cooking surface, but you'll need to take care not to burn yourself. Also, the filler itself will become hot from a large boiling pot or stovetop.
