"We had a very good experience with Griffin’s Roofing Service in Russellville, AR. The crew was hardworking, respectful, and completed the roof quickly without cutting corners. Communication was excellent from start to finish, and they answered all our questions honestly. The cleanup was thorough, and the new roof looks fantastic. Highly recommend that you talk to Zach (479-518-3064) if you need dependable roofing work."

"Erie Homes was great. Ty and Chris shared the information about roofs in a clear and precise way. I love the high quality of the roofing materials and the standards they hold their workers to when placing the roof. Mike called me each step of the way, so I was prepared when the roofing supplies showed up. I even got calls after the beautiful roof was done. Amazing job!"

"I've had several inspections in my past & never have had such a great experience. He didn't hurry doing the inspection, I know the home owner was nervous each time he stopped to write something down on his report. He wrote up the roof & sad to have new roof put on, which helped out big time. We are looking to sale this home to downsize & will see him again."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of asphalt shingles is typically between 15 and 30 years, depending on the type of shingle and other factors. Standard 3-tab shingles have the shortest lifespan, around 10 to 15 years. Architectural shingles last longer, averaging 20 to 25 years. Luxury or designer asphalt shingles are the most durable, with a lifespan of 40 years or more. Climate, installation quality, and regular maintenance also play a significant role in how long your shingles will last. Signs that they need replacement include granule loss, bald spots, and roof leaks.

Common problems include loose or missing shingles, leaks, and weather damage. Regular inspections help prevent major repairs.

The purchase price of 3-tab shingles is less than that of other material varieties, such as architectural shingles. However, 3-tab shingles generally last far fewer years than even the least expensive architectural ones. Other roofing types, such as metal or clay, also cost more than 3-tab shingles. However, if you plan to stay in your home for many years, the long-term cost of any of these options can compete with 3-tabs because of their longevity.

Removing snow from your roof can help prevent ice dams, but the best thing to do is address insulation issues in your attic. If you do decide to remove the snow manually, you should always use a roof rake rather than a shovel. You shouldn’t climb your snowy roof in any circumstance, and roof rake allows you to remove the snow from the ground or a ladder. For the best results, remove snow as soon as possible after it falls.

The number of snow guards you’ll need on your roof depends on factors like the type of roof you have, its slope, the orientation of your home, and the snow load in your area. A local roofing professional or the snow guard manufacturer can help you determine the ideal amount.
