Customers say: Quick response

"Dustin Henderson and his crew did what they said they would do! They cleaned up and made sure that I was satisfied with the end Project. Not knowing much about roofing, it made me feel good when direct tv came out to readjust the dish after they put shingles under it. He said "Ive seem a lot of roof jobs, but this one is one of the best I've seen. They knew what they were doing". I would recommend them to others! Don"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

A properly constructed and maintained chimney crown can last 50 to 75 years. However, its lifespan can be significantly shorter—20 years or less—if it was poorly constructed, improperly installed, or damaged. Factors like using the wrong materials or failing to prepare the brick around the flue can lead to moisture buildup and premature breakdown, potentially resulting in a more costly rebuild.

A chimney liner isn’t required for an outdoor fireplace; you don’t technically need one if the masonry chimney uses the proper dimensions and is built to code. However, a chimney liner does serve as a protective coating for the flue. Adding a liner could improve performance, safety, and durability. In short, while not necessary, it wouldn’t hurt.

You can find replacement stove parts for popular brands at local hardware stores or major retailers. However, you might find the best deal by directly buying online from the manufacturer. While there are some universal parts, the manufacturer can also help you find parts that are specific to your stove’s make and model.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.

A chimney without a liner is not recommended. Chimney liners protect the surrounding structure from heat, reducing the risk of fire or structural damage. Just as important, liners prevent carbon monoxide and other toxic gases from leaking into your abode by guiding smoke and gases out more effectively. Remember, installing a liner ensures safety and extends the life of your chimney.
