"We have a warranty for a period of time. We got two other quotes that were significantly higher. We had two other instances. The people who owned the house before us apparently had a significant issue and they blew insulation in to cover it up so it was not discovered in the home inspection. When these issues started popping out, we had squirrels try to enter in other areas. I do not know enough about squirrels to know if it is bad that they had to come back out or if it is normal. They are responsive. They come back out and I have a two year guarantee and then after that, I have to annually repurchase the guarantee. Squirrels hate not having access to secure shelter or food sources. Your best line of defense is to make your property less attractive by removing access to these things. There are chemical squirrel repellents, but these have mixed success. According to Pennsylvania State University, you can apply products containing the bittering agent denatonium saccharide to a squirrel's favorite fence, tree, or roof spots. However, you need to reapply repellents regularly, which aren’t scientifically proven effective.
The most effective natural roach repellent is Borax with its key ingredient of boric acid and diatomaceous earth. But some homeowners may not feel like these are “natural” enough, especially since you can’t use Borax around curious pets or toddlers.
On the other hand, studies have shown that oregano oil mixtures have some of the best repellent effects, and other research indicates that catnip oil, peppermint oil, and citrus oils have notable effects on keeping roaches away. Rosemary oil has been shown to be the most effective natural oil for killing cockroaches outright.

However, you can use it to absorb smells so if there is a fragrance you believe is attracting fleas or ticks, you can use baking soda to rid the smell to control it.

This is also when swarming typically occurs, allowing colonies to expand. However, termites remain active year-round, especially in warmer climates or heated homes.
