"My scheduled appointment with Cameron Goodrich from the Mobile, AL. branch was for 12:00 noon, and before the time of the appointment, I received a phone call from Cameron, who stated that he had finished early on another job in the area and wanted to see if I would like to have him come out sooner. I was very pleased to hear that and I was accommodating. Once Cameron arrived, he introduced himself and we sat down to go over the entire process of what the inspection was going to entail. Cameron was very professional, knowledgeable of the job, and a very polite man. After going over the process, Cameron asked if there were any questions I had for him or concerns I have noticed since the install. I did go over a couple of things that were noticed and I was reassured all would be investigated and corrected within the companys ability (Meaning anything outside of what they can do, wont be able to be done which, makes perfect sense). No, a larger well pressure tank will not increase your home's water pressure by itself. Water pressure is determined by the pressure control switch on the well pump.

However, a larger tank does offer other benefits. It can store more water, which allows you to run water for longer periods before the pump needs to turn on. This reduces how often the pump cycles on and off, leading to less wear and tear on the pump and the entire well system. Consequently, a larger tank can help extend the life of your equipment and may prevent future pump issues that could affect water pressure.

If your goal is to increase water pressure, consider these alternatives:

  • Adjust the pressure settings on your tank to a higher PSI (pounds per square inch).

  • Replace your current pump with a model that has a higher flow rate, measured in gallons per minute (GPM).

  • Have a professional install a water pressure booster pump in your plumbing system.

  • If you experience pressure fluctuations, consider upgrading to a constant pressure system.

Yes, you can put a bathroom in a bump-out. Some homeowners build a bump-out to enhance their bathrooms with new sinks, vanities, tubs, showers, or linen closets. Depending on the layout of your bathroom and what you’re adding to it, you may need to install new plumbing or reroute your existing plumbing lines.

When positioning a pot filler, it should be mounted at a height that allows for convenient access without obstructing the cooking area. A general guideline is to place it 18 to 24 inches above the stove. For a more customized height, measure your most-used pots and install the filler 5 to 10 inches above your tallest one. Regarding horizontal placement, while centering the pot filler can be aesthetically pleasing and ensure it reaches all burners, it is often safer to install it to the left or right of the cooking surface. This placement helps you avoid reaching over a hot stove and reduces the risk of the filler itself getting hot from a large boiling pot. If you do choose to center it, be careful to avoid burns.

Hiring a reliable and professional plumber involves researching plumbing companies in your area, speaking with the plumbers to get a sense of their services and qualifications, and checking online for licensing and customer reviews. You can ask the following questions to help find the best and most reputable plumber in your area:

  • Do you charge by the hour or by the project?

  • Are you licensed, certified, and insured?

  • Does your work come with any type of warranty?

  • Do you have customer references I could speak with?

  • Do you have experience handling my particular issue?

The key difference between a standard spigot (or regular hose bib) and a frost-free hose bib is its design to prevent freezing and pipe bursting during cold weather. A standard spigot is a basic outdoor faucet. In contrast, a frost-free hose bib has a longer stem that extends into the heated interior of the house, placing the shut-off valve inside where it's protected from freezing temperatures. This design, often combined with a downward-sloping supply pipe, ensures water drains out of the faucet body when turned off, preventing ice formation. This allows you to leave the water supply on year-round without the risk of pipe damage, making it a valuable choice for regions with harsh winters.
