"I noticed my granite countertops were uneven at one of the seams. I went through Angie's List and hired Brian Marko of Stone Repair South. He arrived on time and was courteous throughout. He did an excellent job and the countertop looked like new when he was finished. It was obvious that he took pride in his work as evidenced by the finished product."

"We had Prime Management do a complete roof replacement. It was a very positive experience working with the Prime Management team. Pricing was reasonable, scheduling was easy, and I believe that they performed quality work. We had a minor glitch during the process, but it was very promptly resolved. The workers were punctual, and did a great job cleaning up afterwards. We are overall happy with the results. I would not hesitate to hire Prime Management again."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Concrete and granite are both extremely durable materials. One isn’t necessarily better than the other. It depends on what you’re looking for. That said, granite is less costly and requires less maintenance. Furthermore, concrete is more prone to staining and cracking, though you can patch the cracks using a concrete patching compound.

If you need to make curved cuts on your laminate countertop, get out the jigsaw. A jigsaw with a fine blade will allow you to follow curved traced lines. It is important to cut slowly and to let the jigsaw do most of the work with you acting as a guide.

Most homebuyers value standard counter height (34–36 inches) over bar height (40–42 inches).

Both marble and quartz are decent kitchen countertop choices for different reasons. Marble provides an elegant look that’s sure to attract eyeballs, which can add value to a home. However, this isn’t the most durable material around and is easily scratched and stained. Quartz may not offer a classic look like marble, but it is available in a wide range of colors and patterns. It’s also durable, with the ability to resist scratches and stains.

Extensive chips and cracks may require a full replacement of the countertop. The cost to install a new countertop is around $3,100 on average. But, if the damaged area is relatively small, you may want to consider repairing it yourself or calling in a qualified professional. Depending on the material, some epoxy and sandpaper may do the trick. Or you can consider painting laminate countertops or refinishing butcher block countertops.
