"Eddie arrived on the day he agreed to and a few minutes early. He explained what he was doing and why it was important. He gave me options when appropriate. The area of trees and invasive vines were cleared beautifully."

"Amazing experience! I canâ t say enough nice things about these guys! Truly. William and Shannon are good people. They are such hard workers and did an excellent job! To begin with - They were so professional. They were great communicators- keeping me informed every step of the way. They were great listeners too and did exactly what we wanted plus some. They treated our job (our tree) like it was in their own backyard & our yard looks better than it ever did. Outstanding! Also, the cost was beyond fair. Goliath Outdoor Services has a customer - for life! Best customer service EVER! Best tree service EVER!"

"Juan and his crew were outstanding to work with. They were kind, respectful, and communicated clearly throughout the entire process. They took the time to explain exactly what they planned to do, how long it would take, and made sure everything was organized with a clear plan in place. The quality of their work exceeded expectations. They removed and hauled off all the trees, mowed the lawn, cleared out dead leaves by raking, bagging, and hauling them away, and cleaned up all the vines along the side of the house. They also pressure washed the patio and sidewalks, and trimmed back any branches hanging over the home. Everything was completed thoroughly and professionally, and the property looks significantly better. I would highly recommend Juan and his crew to anyone needing landscaping services."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.

Whether you grind or dig up and remove your tree stump depends on your landscaping goals. Using a stump grinder leaves the root system in place for it to decompose over time, whereas digging up the tree stump removes the roots and the stump. Overall, stump grinding is a far simpler process since you won’t need to deal with the roots. Stump removal will make your yard look like a demolition site, but you’ll have an easier time replanting in the same place as your former tree.

Consumers typically do not need to worry about the cost of tree insurance, as professional tree service companies pay for their own coverage. For a tree service business, an average U.S. policy covering about $1 million in general liability costs roughly $40 a month or $500 a year. More extensive policies, providing between $500,000 to $2 million in coverage, can cost between $3,000 and $6,000 annually, depending on the company's size and scope of work. Tree service professionals should speak with an insurance company to determine the right plan for their business.

Generally, avoid trimming trees in the summer (with the exception of pruning fruit trees as needed). Trees use a lot of energy in the summer, most of which is relegated to new growth. If you chop it too early, you could stunt the next season's growth. Again, when in doubt, do some research based on the specific tree type.

You can start your search for a reputable arborist online by looking for professionals who hold the proper licensing and are fully insured. Next, read through some online reviews to see what kind of service the expert brings to the table, and confirm that they don’t have a history of complaints with the Better Business Bureau. Finally, you can ask the professional for a list of references and then call them to ask questions about the service, professionalism, value, and more that the expert brings to the table.
