"I left a message on their web page and I was contacted the very next day. Juston gave me a quote and I accepted it. He sent his crew the next day and removed very large and overgrown bushes from the roots. Then hauled the debris away. "Adrian Paramo arrived on time to repair what I thought was a leak in my sprinkler line in the front yard. He quickly assessed the problem was with the main water supply to the house, not the sprinkler line, and recommended corrective actions. Beyond this assessment he also identified additional problems in my sprinkler system (broken sprinkler heads, leaking sprinkler line in the back yard). He then promptly fixed them and finished up his service call by adjusting the settings for the sprinklers in the front and back yards to ensure efficient watering. Adrian was courteous and professional throughout this visit and the repair expense was quite reasonable. I would not hesitate to engage his services again."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

Trimming your palm trees once or twice per year keeps them healthy and robust. Caring for palm trees includes cutting off brown leaves to prevent wildfires and pathway obstruction. However, you don’t want to over-trim the palm tree. Cutting too many branches off will weaken the tree and prevent future growth. And it’s essential to have a strong, healthy palm tree during hurricane season to prevent safety risks or property damage.

For safety reasons, leaning trees are best removed by a professional, as they may often tear away from the hinge, causing you to lose control over where the tree falls. If you choose to cut down a tree leaning slightly, avoid cutting off root protrusions before you start. Make your hinge a little longer than usual by cutting it deeper (up to 30% of the diameter) and applying a wedge into the felling cut on the side the tree is leaning. Stand away from the direction the tree leans while making your felling cut.

Any cutting of tree roots can hurt or kill a tree, which is why it's recommended you don’t do it unless the roots are damaging or invasive on a nearby structure like your home. You should never cut more than 15 percent of above-ground tree roots at one time. If you have any questions about cutting tree roots, contact your local arborist.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.
