"Excellent, absolutely thrilled with our roofing project. The whole job was completed in a day and a half. We have set up additional roofing projects on our property in the near future and have referred Balke's Roofing to our friends/neighbors."

Small jobs welcome

"Hired Lorenzo and his crew to replace an architectural accent roof on a clients lake home. Outstanding work, done in a timely fashion and right on budget. Was so impressed, I hired him to do my own home, he replaced my entire roof and back patio roof with a gorgeous Eagle rib metal roof. Also, great follow up after the completion of the roof. Checking to make sure we were satisfied, doing some small maintenance on the roof...all in all, a first class experience!"

"All around great service, very professional and straight forward experience. From evaluation of roof condition and or damage, to working with the insurance adjuster to help determine replacement over repair options, Dunlop Roofing was top notch and did a wonderful job installing my new roof in just one day. An awesome company that I fell comfortable recommending."

"Kent was very thorough with his work and was friendly. I walked with him in every step except going up the roof or in the crawlspace. I also felt assured that he was conducting the inspection in my interest, and not the realtor's or the seller's"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Metal roofs have a bad reputation for being loud, even if that's not necessarily true—it's usually only thin tin or sheet metal roofs that are loud during storms. Stone coating adds a layer to the metal that severely cuts down on any noise from rain. In many ways, stone-coated steel roofs are quieter than your average, run-of-the-mill asphalt shingle roof.

Ideally, you shouldn’t pay your roofer upfront unless you’re special-ordering materials. However, anything between 10% and 15% of the project’s cost is reasonable to pay upfront. Avoid making a final payment until after the roof gets completed.

Always inform your insurance company when you get a new roof. A new roof may entitle you to lower rates or discounts, and if you need to make a claim, they’ll have up-to-date information on your roof. You’ll need to provide documentation—ask your insurance agent what you need to submit to prove you had your roof replaced.

Yes, gable vents can let water in. That being said, this usually only occurs during extreme conditions like heavy rainfall. You can prevent water from entering through gable vents by adding a screen that traps the water before it can enter.

Chimney caps have a solid top but perforated sides so smoke can exit safely. If rain or snow falls downward, chimney caps can protect the chimney’s interior. Just note that if rain or snow blows in sideways, there’s a higher likelihood it will enter the chimney—but it's not often a cause for concern as long as you have a cap.
