"Mr. Fitzsimmons arrived promptly on time, neatly dressed and clean -like a professional that is proud of his work and company. He had all the equipment and tools he need to complete the job in the time period that he quoted. He answered any questions that my wife and I had with a straight forward answer no guessing. Once he set the price that was it. He done outstanding work and cleaned up the work area totally. He's the kind of contractor I would recommend to my neighbors and grandparents. GREAT JOB."

Small jobs welcome

"The contractor was fair and excellent. I gave a 4.0 score for the cost because I was unaware it was expensive, although I received my money's worth. They did not find a leak in my pipes but installed a water heater and advised and assisted me on several issues regarding my home. I am very grateful to Jeff and Bobby for their workmanship and good character. I felt relaxed around them."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

The main difference between an outdoor wood furnace versus an outdoor wood boiler is what each appliance is heating. An outdoor wood furnace burns wood to create heat, which warms the air and moves it through the ducts in your home. An outdoor wood boiler uses the heat from burning wood to warm water, which goes through pipes to radiators in the home.

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks and technical expertise required. Hire licensed professionals.

One of the easiest ways to determine which type of furnace will work best for your home is to contact a professional in your area. Many HVAC companies offer free consultations to help potential customers determine if they need a new system and which type would work best for their home and the community’s climate.

If you’re looking for a way to heat your home that is lower in cost and higher in efficiency, you should run the numbers to see what it would look like to switch to gas or electric heat. The best choice for how to heat your home depends on your location, budget, and energy priorities.

Hydronic and standard electric baseboard heaters differ in how they operate, their cost, and their performance. Standard convection heaters use electric coils to heat the air directly, while hydronic heaters warm a contained liquid like water or oil, which then radiates heat into the room.

In terms of cost and efficiency, hydronic heaters usually have a higher upfront price but are more energy-efficient and cheaper to run over time. This is because the heated liquid retains warmth, allowing the heater to continue providing heat for a while after the thermostat turns it off. In contrast, electric heaters provide heat more quickly but are less efficient.

Ultimately, the better choice depends on your priorities. If you need a room to heat up fast and have a lower initial budget, an electric heater might be suitable. If long-term energy savings are more important and you don't mind a slower heat-up time, a hydronic heater is likely the better option.
