"Ruben came out to timely and assessed the project. He was able to submit a detailed fair quote to me by the end of the day. After work began he found damage to the roof which needed to be repaired before completion of the drywall project. He and his team worked nonstop to address the roof leak as we were expecting a big rain in the following days. I have been pleased with the outcome of job done! The ceiling looks great and I have not observed any leaks. A very good team of workers! Thank you guys. I would definitely use in the future for other projects."

"I highly recommend T&P Remodeling Company! They pressure washed, repaired woodwork, and painted the exterior of our house and decking, and we are very pleased with the results. They are dependable, trustworthy, kind, and extremely hard-working. From start to finish, they communicated well, showed up ready to work, and paid close attention to every detail. It is not always easy to find a company that you can truly trust, but T&P Remodeling made the entire process smooth and stress-free. They are a wonderful group of professionals who clearly take pride in their work, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone needing remodeling or exterior work done."

I’m an old-fashioned, affordable, honest handyman. I am very versatile. \n\nI have worked in construction for over 25 years. I have extensive experience in drywall repair, trim and carpentry work, electronic containment fences and custom pet doors (I can put one anywhere- glass door, window, wall, etc). \n\nThere’s absolutely no job that I won’t at least take a look at and give my honest opinion. No job is too small. No job is too odd. I can do light car maintenance or complex home repairs. Clean-up or Custom work. Just ask! \n\nFlexible hours. Weekends available.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Although they have similar applications, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Their primary differences lie in their composition, consistency, and ideal use cases.

Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it thicker than joint compound. It dries quickly and is easy to sand, which makes it ideal for small wall repair projects like filling nail holes or patching minor damage.

Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum. It is primarily used for large-scale projects, such as taping and finishing the seams on newly installed drywall. It tends to shrink more than spackle and can be more difficult to spread.

While both products can be used to fill small depressions and cracks, spackle cannot replace joint compound for taping and mudding new drywall. Conversely, you can often use joint compound for small patching jobs typically done with spackle.

The age of your home can clue you in to whether you have plaster or drywall ceilings. Homes built after the ‘70s are more likely to have drywall ceilings and walls, while older homes have plaster. You can also do the pushpin test: A pushpin will go into drywall, whereas it’s much harder to push one into a plaster wall. If you’re still unsure, ask a drywall professional to let you know which type of ceilings and walls you have.

While textured walls can elevate a space in many ways, there are a couple of downsides to consider. Namely, they’re hard to clean, and some textures fall out of fashion quickly. Make sure to consider all your options to find one you truly love before diving in.

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

On average, drywall installation costs around $2,000, with a typical range of $400 to $6,000, including materials and labor. The final price depends on several factors. The most significant is the size of the area, as many contractors charge per square foot. Other cost factors include the complexity of the job (e.g., cutting around multiple windows and doors, corners, or curved walls), accessibility, location, the thickness of the drywall, the height of the room, and the desired level of finish. The level of finish can range from simply hanging the drywall to taping and mudding the seams and painting the walls.
