"Fantastic experience with this company! We hired them to replace the carpet in one of our bedrooms (thanks to our cats who rebelled against the litterbox when our first child was born). Paul came out to look at the carpet the very same day I called them, within hours. He took a square back to his showroom and was able to match the color almost exactly. Their next install date was almost 2 weeks out but he knew we were in a time crunch and called me a few days later when they had a cancelation. They came out that same day (within an hour) and had the whole job completed before lunch. It looks fantastic and the crew was clean and professional. I cannot recommend this company enough!"

"Jim is the absolute best flooring professional I have ever hired. I have hired him for various flooring jobs over the past 10 years. He has installed carpet and vinyl in my rental property numerous times. I have also hired Jim to install carpet in my tri-level home which was a huge project. He also replaced my bathroom flooring. And he laid wood flooring in my entry way. Jim will always provide a great consultation on the latest trends while still providing you with the most cost efficient way to get what you will love. Jim is timely. He will do what he says he will do. I am always extremely satisfied with his work, professionalism, timely completion of the job, and reasonable prices. I highly recommend Jim for any of your flooring needs!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Carpet density refers to how closely together the fibers of a carpet are stitched into the carpet backing, with values ranging from 1,000 to 7,000. A carpet density value of 3,000 or higher is considered best for most homes, especially in high-traffic areas, such as a living room or dining room. If you’re comparing two carpets made of the same material, a higher carpet density can indicate better durability and longevity. However, carpet density is only one of many factors that can help you determine a carpet’s quality.

Installing carpet over carpet may negatively impact the resale value of your home. While it offers a quick fix, potential buyers may view it as a temporary solution rather than a long-term investment in quality flooring. Properly installed and maintained flooring adds value to a home, so removing the existing carpet and installing new flooring may be a better option to attract prospective buyers and maximize resale value.

Carpet is an effective natural insulator, so it will make a room slightly warmer than laminate. The material’s insulating properties also make carpeted rooms more efficient for temperature regulation.

Choosing the right carpet involves assessing room usage, desired comfort levels, durability requirements, and stylistic preferences. Carpet fiber types and density should also be considered during the decision-making process.

Taking carpet off stairs is an easy but multi-step process you can usually do yourself. If you have the right tools, time, and oomph to finish the job, removing carpet from stairs can be an easy-to-medium difficulty task, depending on your stairs, the type of carpet installed, and how willing you are to get your hands dirty. It’s important to review the process, gather the right tools before you begin, and follow a tutorial or directions while you work.
