"Performed insulation work on our home. Vacuumed out the 25 year old blown in insulation on day one, then sprayed in foam for the whole roof to include the attached garage, and cleaned up afterwards. When there was confusion of the work they performed (my fault) Lee called me up to see if we were satisfied and was willing to do more to make me happy, but this was not necessary after he explained the work performed and I agreed that all was good. They came in on the week promised, delivered what was expected, and at a very competitive price. Also for veterans, they do give a veterans discount, so don't forget to ask."

"Outstanding work. Despite my busy schedule they were able to accommodate me and get my house properly insulated. They were clear with what needed to be done and went above and beyond to get the right level of insulation installed."

"These guys are amazing! They turned my filthy crawl space with a dirt floor and sagging, rodent-nested insulation into a clean, totally encapsulated space with a humidifier. They also built an entrance door to the crawl space. (We had been propping a piece of wood against the entrance. ). They clearly communicated the scope of work, timeline, and costs. Then they followed through on every detail. They did all this in one long work day. The results were awesome! I am very happy with the outcome and recommend them highly."

"Very friendly people, and the price was fair. During installation, the young man accidentally stepped on ceiling rather than beam, causing damage to my family room ceiling. I notified them of damage, and they came back nailed, and put putty on sheetrock, and said they would come back in 2 or 3 days to sand & paint the ceiling. It's been 8 days now. I am still waiting. I've called, but no answer."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Heavily exceeding building code requirements for insulation not only wastes money on materials but can also lead to ventilation and moisture problems. In most cases, the minimum amount of insulation required by code is perfectly adequate.

The life span of fiberglass insulation can be as long as 80 to 100 years, but because of changing building codes, it’s best to get your insulation checked every 10 to 15 years. Signs of degrading fiberglass insulation include bits of batts on the floor or batts detached from frames. Having optimal, healthy insulation in your home will improve its energy efficiency, lowering your monthly bills.

Ductwork sweats due to a temperature difference between the air inside the ducts and the surrounding air, similar to how a cold drink develops condensation in the heat. This sweating is a sign that your HVAC system is not operating at peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in proper insulation, which also improves your system's energy efficiency. Another option is to close off your crawl space and install a dehumidifier to dry the air and lower its dew point.

Several types of insulation are effective for crawl spaces, with spray foam and rigid foam boards being two of the best options. Closed-cell spray foam insulation is a strong choice because it effectively repels moisture, resists biological growth, seals the air, and provides excellent thermal protection, especially in hard-to-reach areas. Rigid foam insulation boards are another excellent material as they insulate well, resist water damage, and will not settle over time like fiberglass or cellulose.

Garden blankets and frost cloths are the best things to use to protect trees and plants from frost. They are made from polypropylene fabric, which is lightweight, breathable, and dries fast. If you can’t get garden blankets or frost cloths before the freeze, you should use lightweight blankets, sheets, or towels.
