Alatech Home InspectionOutstanding inspection, advice, recommendations, and report. I called Mr. Brooks on Tuesday inquiring about an inspection on a potential home I was purchasing. He said he could make the close to 2 hr drive the next day. He came and performed the inspection and advised me of the issues and potential future issues. I did not purchase the home....over 250k. The brick had to be removed by hand instead of a saw, then the windows had to be framed properly, glass applied, and inside and outside details replaced. There is wainscoting on the inside and he did a beautiful job reworking it.- Jean H.

Champion Windows and Home Exteriors of BirminghamI had always wanted a sunroom to enjoy looking at the backyard. An architect told me to consult one of the sunroom companies rather than building onto my house. I contacted Champion and a representative came to my house within two days and helped me pick out the type and size that was best. It took about four months to build due to bad weather, but now I have a heated/air conditioned glass room that is beautiful. My second encounter with Champion was when I decided to add custom tall, narrow windows to my dark livingroom. Champion sent the very best carpenter and his assistants, and now the windows let in so much light and are gorgeous assets. These windows cost about $4,000.00 but are worth every penny. When you consider they had to cut through brick, much of it done by hand, that's a great price.- Jean H.

Peffer ConstructionPefffer Construction has done work for me on several project over the past 10 years. They have remodeled a bed room and bath room along with adding a large closet and computer room. they have remodeled another bedroom for me. They constructed a 1400 sq ft. master suite addition that included a below grade Tornado Safe Room with a very nice interior stairway leading to the bunker. the addition also included two toilet rooms and a Spa Suite. While doing the addition they remodeled the laundry room so that i can use two washers and two dryers. he also replaced some windows and doors while remodeling the house. several years later we were hit by a tornado (so we got to use the shelter). Peffer construction showed up as soon as they could get through the police lines and started patching up the house. They met with our insurance adjuster and rebuilt the damaged part of our house while we were still living in it. 12 days after we were hit by the tornado a second major tornado passed within 1/2 mile of the house and the peffer crew (who were repairing the house), our neighbors and our family all found shelter in the Safe Room. Peffer Construction is very eazy to work with and the craftmanship is the best you will find.- dennis m.

Skylight Options, llcExceeded our expectations and we are THRILLED with the results. Edwin and his team drove 3 hours and arrived on time at 8:30 in the morning. It was laborious work (especially on the roof on a hot summer day) but they were polite, cleaned up after themselves, and were very professional. Edwin answered all of my questions when I first made the inquiry and his estimate (given over the phone based on my description of the areas) and final price were exactly the same. He was great at communication in the week and day prior to the installation. It took me over 2 years of searching Alabama for an installer and we are so happy that we finally found Skylight Options. The only other installer I found wanted to charge me $3800 for the exact same price. We have a long list of references available upon request. We are small, Michael and one helper, so you don't have a lot of people you don't know going in and out of your home. People really like that aspect of our business.
Recent Review:
Overall it went very well. This is a true mom & pop (&son) operation that delivers very high quality work for a fair price. They always showed up on time (when scheduled) and work hard all day long. My only detractor was it was hard to get the scheduling done towards the end of the project. They are in demand because they are so good. I would definitely recommend them.
