Small jobs welcome

My name is Daniel Hood, owner of HoodTechSolutions LLC. I’ve always been the person friends, family, and neighbors call when something won’t connect, won’t print, won’t sync, or just won’t behave. Over time, that passion turned into a full‑service tech support business built on trust, professionalism, and genuine care for the people I serve.

"Prime Management was very easy to work with. From scheduling through the repair. Their roofing techs were on time and very friendly. They fixed my roof as promised and on schedule. They also did a full roof inspection to ensure there were no other issues. Communication with the front office was easy. Quick responses and they ensure all my questions were answered. I would highly recommend Prime Management for your needs. Thanks for the great experiences."

"I had taken a picture of my issue and sent it to the company representative while on the phone discussing the job. He said they could repair it and would probably be about $110-115. After the tech arrived and looked at the door, he said he recommend replacing the top brace. My quote then went to $300."

Gate Repair FAQs, answered by experts

The obvious disadvantage of an automatic gate is that it runs on electricity. If the power goes out, it won’t open or close unless there’s a manual override. Many homeowners will need a backup generator so they don’t get stuck on either side of the gate, particularly when looking to park a vehicle. Automatic gates are also much more complicated than manual gates, with tech-heavy components that make them more expensive to repair.

Yes, most electric and automatic gates can be opened manually. They are equipped with a manual override or release mechanism that detaches the motor from the gate, allowing it to be moved by hand. This feature is essential during power outages or other emergencies.

To activate the manual override, you will typically need a specific key or tool. In some cases, you may also need a screwdriver to remove a cover to access the release mechanism. The use of a key is a common security measure to prevent unauthorized individuals from manually opening the gate.

Because every model is different, it is highly recommended to consult your gate's user manual to familiarize yourself with the specific procedure before you need to use it. Keep any necessary keys or tools in an accessible location. Be aware that automatic gates can be very heavy, so opening and closing them manually may be difficult.

In North America, electric gates are also subject to the UL 325 Standard for Safety, which includes provisions to allow emergency responders to access the property.

Even if you have extensive experience working with electronics or gates, we recommend leaving this repair to a local gate repair professional. Small tasks, such as battery replacement or debris removal, can be DIY projects, but more involved repairs require a pro’s skills and knowledge. Whenever wiring is involved, it’s easy to cause serious damage to your gate’s system, which can lead to bigger, more costly problems.

A gate shouldn’t be higher or lower than the fence it's attached to. If the gate is lower than the fence, it encourages strangers to peek at your property. If the gate is higher than the fence, it just looks weird. Gates allow for increased security and aesthetics, so ensure the gate rests at the same height as the fence.

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.
