Jonathan prepared a contract for us on Affordable Painting, LLC letterhead, but after I wrote a check for the down payment, I was asked to re-write my check to a new company. Which turned out to be a handyman service, not a painting contractor. The check was cashed immediately, however they didn't show up for another couple of weeks. When they were there, they would stay only a few hours here and there. And then, sometimes due to weather, not show up again for several days. In the meantime, they left our home "papered and taped" around every window and doorway, other than ONE exit for over two weeks. With the moisture and heat, the adhesive from the tape remained behind on several surfaces, and instead of being removed properly, it was just painted over. Promises and guarantees of quality and completion were made, and ultimately only half-assed attempts were provided. For another two weeks, we locked up all of Jonathan's equipment in our garage, just in fear that he might have abandoned the job and was not coming back. Made several attempts to reach him via text messages and phone calls that were ignored. He later stated that his phone was not working, his email was not working, etc. When we saw him in the grocery store one evening, talking on his phone, he saw us and immediately turned his back to us, while continuing to talk on his phone. We were charged for a professional job, but received only amateur work, from a "new partner" that was giving it his best effort, but just didn't have the experience. He also brought along cousins, brothers, etc to help out - but again, no experience. What was supposed to take a week or two in early June, took weeks and weeks on end with little performance. Finally "finished" with them during the first week of August. Jonathan was satisfied with "good enough", instead of what was verbally promised during our initial meeting. When Jonathan didn't include everything that was discussed during our first meeting in the actual contract, he used that against us and said he never discussed it at all. We caught him in several lies, and he became very defensive and agitated. He stated that I told him I didn't want "Taj Mahal". I was referring to paint quality, and told him I didn't need top of the line Sherwin Williams, but wanted middle of the line Sherwin Williams, due to the price difference. Then he stated I told him I just wanted a quick and easy paint job, because I was selling the house. In actuality, I told him what I was hoping to have filled in, repaired, re-stained, etc., as I was planning to sell the house in a couple of years, and I wanted it to look nice. He twisted everything I said to him around to his own benefit, and then would start yelling and becoming defensive when I told him he was lying. He took copious notes during our initial meeting, however couldn't produce any notes to refer to when we questioned him. We will now have to go back and finish up several areas of paint and stain ourselves; while they took a discount on the balance we owed them of roughly $700, it will cost that much or more to have everything repaired and finished properly. We could not stand the thought of having them on our property for one more day... and we basically paid to get rid of them. They were able to start work only a few days later when other companies were weeks out. They started work bright and early and showed up with all the necessary tools and equipment to start working. They had the forms built and were ready for the concrete within hours. The second day they again showed up early and the concrete was delivered shortly afterwards. When I came back home during lunchtime they had already completed their work and were cleaning up. They did all the work quickly, professionally, and even came in $200 under their estimate. It's been almost a year now and the only issue is one tiny hairline surface crack. You have to get down on your hands and knees to see it. I figure that it has a lot to do with the earthquakes and the ground freezing that we have to deal with up here. I work construction and have seen jobs on Fort Wainwright and in Fairbanks that had huge cracks in them only a few months after being poured. I am very happy with their work and would recommend them. I will use them again in the future if I need more concrete work done.

We respected and enjoyed Jon so much that we asked for his assistance on a much larger job that needed both stump removal, and wood chipping on about 1.2 acre property; Which he cleared in just a few visits. Playground Equipment questions, answered by experts
So long as your court and hoop dimensions are the same, any basketball player can get a great workout and improve their skills on an indoor or outdoor court. However, you might consider using or building an indoor court if you live in a particularly rainy or windy area, as this can make it difficult to play outdoors.
In most cases, yes, an outdoor living space adds value to your home. The trick to your best return on investment is to choose high-quality building materials that will look nice and durable without crossing the line into total luxury that becomes cost-ineffective. For example, there’s no need to install marble tiles around your pool, but a durable and aesthetically pleasing deck will go a long way.
It’s usually possible to install a playground yourself, but we don’t recommend it. Playground construction can be complicated and involves moving large, heavy, and bulky components into place while you affix them to other pieces. Not only is the work physically demanding, but any mistakes could reduce the lifespan of your playground and potentially put any children who use the equipment at risk of injury. It’s relatively inexpensive to hire a professional playground installer, and it’s usually worth the investment, if only for the peace of mind it provides.
Playground installation costs around $500 on average, which doesn’t include the cost of the playground itself. Most homeowners spend between $150 and $1,200 on the labor to install a playground, plus between $100 and $1,500 on the playground equipment. The cost of professional installation depends on a few different factors:
Type and size of the playground
Whether or not you need land leveling before installation
Accessibility of your yard
Whether you buy a premade playground or a custom one
Local permitting costs, if necessary
Wood, metal, and plastic are common materials. Choose based on durability, aesthetics, and maintenance needs.
