He corrected all that he could. The guy that did mine originally didn't do it and I think he lost his job. He was not going to keep him because he has had to correct several of his mistakes. Shades of Green gave us a reasonable estimate to clean out the pond, install a new pump and repair the waterfall. He said he would get in touch with us soon and do the job in two weeks. We had to call him after three weeks to remind him. We got the job scheduled on a day when we had a backyard event planned and reminded him that we needed the job to be done by a certain time. He assured us it would not be a problem. This was not the case, as he showed up that day about five hours later than scheduled. He found the pond was in worse shape than he thought, which led to additional time being needed to complete the job and the need for additional replacement parts. Another byproduct of the pond being in worse shape than realized was the death of the fish that had been living happily in the pond. Pond guy said he had "never lost a fish" in all his years of pond work, but nonetheless, our three fish met their maker that day. According to the pond guy, our fish had grown so accustomed to the funky, dirty water of our pond that being placed temporarily in clean water during the pond work caused a fatal shock to their system. Scheduling issues and dead fish aside, Shades of Green did excellent work turning a formerly disgusting pond into a beautiful backyard amenity. The pond guy even came back to our home without additional charge a couple times after the initial job to fix minor problems we had noticed. He was very good at explaining the intricacies of the work he was doing and telling us what kind of maintenance and care we needed to be doing. Now we have a very pleasant setting in our backyard with a rolling waterfall and sparkling pond. Overall, Shades of Green did a good job with a fairly difficult situation

"I apologize for this long review, but I want to make sure I provide a good overall picture of my whole experience. Serving in the military and now as a civilian my occupation is contracting, purchasing of services and supplies. I take this practice in my personal life as well. Shopping: Once I decided to have this done (tax return made it possible) I searched and read reviews of all the local companies I could find. I not only read reviews from this site, but from FB, Google, everywhere. I ended up with six of the top companies. Of those six, I had a varied level of experience from phone call to a quote on site. The experiences were mostly bad with other companies. One particular company called and made it apparent he really did not want to waste his time on me but reluctantly showed up. Others were in and out under 10 minutes and gave me nowhere near the confidence that Donnie (ADC) gave me. They seemed to skim through details that I thought were important. There was no personal attachment to their work in fact most did not intend to do the work themselves, but contract it out. It was simply a “how big do you want it? Ok here’s your quote.” It was apparent their business model was of quantity and not quality. Price: Donnie was on the higher end, but in the end he was much cheaper; more on that in a bit. ADC: In comes Donnie. He was the second company to provide a quote and probably set my expectations way to high because after him, all the others seemed like a waste of time (again this was with his higher quote). My budget was originally 5k for a pergola and a square patio. Donnie suggested I do the pergola myself, even offered to guide me when the time came and spend a bit more on the patio. AHHH!! was my first thought. He's trying to get me to spend all my money..!!! That is until he started talking, and drew out his idea with a spray can. We spend well over a couple hours’ just talking, brainstorming ideas. He even addressed how he intended to handle the possible rain water drainage issues. NO other company ever brought this up unless I asked about it. In the end I decided to have Donnie do the work. This decision was based on his very apparent knowledge, and the fact that you could tell he actually cared about his work. I would gladly pay more for those attributes. The Work: During the whole process Donnie went over and beyond to make things happen. He shifted a couple other projects in order to meet my 3yr old's birthday party deadline. He made the patio BIGGER to accommodate some of my very last minute ideas on how I wanted to use the space...for FREE. Then he came back a couple times to make sure the color was what we wanted, and even recolored the firepit boulders that he made.. Oh yeah. That's right, part of the patio is a circular portion with a firepit with concrete fire resistant boulders! pretty darn cool. Donnie refused to take the remainder of the payment until the job was complete and I was satisfied. There are several things you will learn about Donnie: He really likes his job, he likes creating things, he is ALL about satisfying the customer, he does not quit or cut corners, he takes a lot of pride in his work. I promise you will not regret the work he does for you.

"I just got done staining it and it looks like a million dollars. We started out with the son. Then halfway through the son got a job working for a big commercial landscaping company and he gave the job to his father who was recovering from a heart attack and it was like a 100 degrees outside. I think he is going to take a job with someone else he should complete the job he is doing. When he left he left the crew one person short without him. He was like the main foreman the main guy and when he was there everything was done good. And when he was gone it wasn't. We are happy with the fence all of the neighbors love it.
