I heard of Austyn through a friend. I gave him a call after a storm blew down my fence. He came out the same day and told me what needed to be done. He was very open and transparent about the entire deal. I really appreciated his honesty and quality of work!

  • Better Fence
Austyn was very professional and efficient. He was direct in communication and had my job quoted and finished in a quarter of the time that I was given from other companies. The fence looks as good as new now and we’re thinking about hiring him back on to build us a deck! Overall, great experience.

  • A Step Above Construction
When Frank gave me a quote for my fence, I felt it was very fair. The gates didn’t change the price by much. When he realized later in the process he gave me a credit. I was nervous seeing the fence go up and worried he might not finish the last bit, but he did and he did a great job. My only criticism of frank is that he should provide a more realistic schedule that accounts for the heat and tricky labor market, but the quality of the finished product was well worth the wait. The design was super simple and without any weird fringes, all the edges lined up in a nice way, and I was pleAsed with all the little design decisions that Frank made along the way. Frank was honest, polite, knowledgeable, responsive and a good communicator and fair negotiator. I will use him in the future for other types of projects, but I can vouch for him…he knows how to make a very solid, sturdy, fence and make good decisions as to how the fence fits into the site. I highly recommend Frank Lupo at A Step Above Construction. He was also considerate about noise and cleanliness

Frank’s work is excellent with attention to detail and satisfaction. He recommended ways to strengthen every part of the fence and used high-quality materials and recommended ways to utilize them. He met all of our expectations. The fence is beautiful!

  • K & C Fence Company
Our experience with K&C was fantastic. At every stage, we had excellent communication from all staff. Our installation was delayed one day due to rain, and I had a meeting at 9 am on the day of installation. I asked if the crew could arrive between 8-8:30 am. Tony arrived with the crew right at 8 am. He was very thorough to ensure the job was done precisely. He checked back in to ask clarifying questions and ensured that everything was perfect. Every time I complimented the work, he was humble and said it was his great team. Also, I have two small chihuahuas. Tony and his team took great care to ensure the fence had no gaps. The fence is beautiful. I absolutely love it

  • Music City Maintenance and Services
Removed my 21 year old fence and little deck, and my front door + porch railings, replaced fence, turned deck into a larger screened in porch with ceiling fan, and painted the outside of my house. I love it! Can't wait for warmer weather and retirement to get out back and enjoy my new porch!
    BJ Strictland S.
Joey was extremely professional and helpful throughout the entire project. We had been looking for a current fence removal and to have a fence rebuilt bigger on more of the property. He was neat and tidy, communicated well, and was able to finish our project in 72 hours. Not an easy undertaking. He stayed within our budget and was helpful every step of the way. We couldn't have asked for a better result. Our puppy is really happy too. We will definitely be hiring him in the future for other projects! Thank you Joey for being incredible. Definitely recommend him as a contractor

Fencing FAQ

  1. How much does it cost to install a fence?

Answer: The average cost to install a fence is $2,600. A variety of factors will impact the overall cost of fencing installation, such as the length of the fence, the materials you choose, and local labor costs. Fencing projects using the lowest cost materials and with lower labor costs can cost as little as $1 to $6 per linear foot, while projects using the highest cost materials and with higher labor costs may be as high as $15 to $45.

  2. Do I need a permit to build a fence around a yard?

Answer: Whether you’ll need a permit to build a fence around your yard will depend on your city or county's local codes. Many metropolitan and suburban areas require a permit to install most fencing, but they may not for fences situated behind a house as opposed to in front of it or fences that don’t run within a certain distance of the road. To find out if you’ll need a permit to fence your yard, reach out directly to your local government office.

  3. What is the cheapest fence to install?

Answer: The cheapest fencing to install is chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing is typically cheaper than other fence types because the materials cost less, and installation is generally quicker and easier than other options. Chain-link fencing is affordable, easy to install, and low maintenance. However, it’s usually considered less secure than other options and doesn’t increase resale value as much as fences made of different materials.

  4. Is a wood or vinyl fence cheaper?

Answer: Wood fences are generally cheaper than the cost of vinyl fences. While the cost of materials for wood and vinyl fences is usually very similar, the labor cost associated with installing a vinyl fence is higher. Wood fencing is also easier to install than vinyl fencing, making it possible to save money by making wood fence installation a DIY project. It’s also possible to DIY install a vinyl fence.

  5. What is the life expectancy of a vinyl fence?

Answer: Vinyl fencing can be expected to last between 10 and 30 years. Vinyl fencing is generally low maintenance, but proper care will ensure it lasts as long as possible. Its long life span and high return on investment make vinyl fencing a popular option for many homeowners.

  6. What type of fence adds to the property value?

Answer: Installing quality fencing, no matter the fence type, will generally add value to your property. In general, fences made of longer-lasting, lower-maintenance, and more attractive materials—like wrought-iron, composite, or vinyl—add more value to a property than fences made of lower-cost or less attractive materials, like chain-link. To ensure your fencing adds as much value to your home as possible, be sure it’s properly permitted, approved by your homeowners association (if you have one), and installed properly.
