- Allen's Painting & RepairIt went very well. I had helped my brother do the original wallpaper in the kitchen and dining room about 10 years ago and we were due for a refresh. Gina and Allen came in promptly around 9:00 and started right to work. I remembered from my experience that there was one corner where the walls were not quite flush, and I gave them a heads-up on that. They managed to cut the paper so that it fit precisely flush with that corner - like the defect wasn't even there. They also were very thorough around the soffit area and over the cabinets. They even wallpapered down to the floor behind our appliances (stove and refrigerator). All-in-all, they spent a good 8 hours on the project, cleaned up thoroughly and were out by 5:30-5:45 same day. It was like they weren't even there, except of course that we had some nice new wallpaper applied in a very professional manner. And I think the price-to-value was excellent. I suspect we could have paid a lot more and probably not gotten as good a result

"<p>The two painters who did our job were punctual as well as cheerful, and the paint job was good, although not up to our rather picky standards. It's a good thing we were here for the work, as the wrong ceiling paint was brought, and we caught that error in time. After the job was completed, we had to clean paint drips and overspray off areas of baseboard where the drop cloths were not kept carefully in place. There were numerous areas to be redone: paint roller fuzz painted onto the walls that had to be picked off and touched up, a few nail pops missed or patched poorly, and several corners where cracks were repaired with too much patch and caulk and had to be redone to make a clean corner. Overall, the painted rooms look nice, but we felt the painters were in a bit of a hurry to leave on the last day.</p>
<p>The wallpaper stripping in the dining room was accomplished with a lot of water sloshed around, and I had to keep an eye on my furniture to make sure it was protected - I used clothes pins to secure the drop cloths after I saw the side of the china cabinet take a direct hit from the stripping solution. (Glad I was here to dry it off!) The furnace thermostat was not covered and was soaked with stripping solution, but luckily was not damaged.</p>
<p>On the last day, one of the painters collected the check. We were surprised that Mr. Power never called us to make sure the work was done to our satisfaction or gain feedback on the job. Also, we had discussed with him another remodeling task which he promised to get back with us on, but that did not happen.</p>
<p>Over all, it was a decent job and a good value. <br /> <br /></p>

"We went through a compeitive bid process and selected Kiel Thomson for his professionalism, attntion to detail and responsiveness. His bid was very compeitive from a price stand point.
<br /> We decisded to live through the construction rather than move out of our home for this six - eight month project. His crew was respectiveful of our home and left it everyday as neat and tidey as a construciton site can be. Every member of his team was professional. There was a project manager assigned who was on site evry day and Kiel Thomson was on site almost everyday. As a project of this type goes, there were items that came up which we not anticipated. Kiel is a problem solver and quickly determined the right appraoch to kep things on track. Quality never suffered.
<br /> We added a new fireplace and hearth room off of a new kitchen with a new stone patio. We added an addition bedroom as well. The kitchen included custom cabinetry with granite counter tops. The work was amazing. Kiel made sure that everything that was added fit the style of the home. The one comment everyone makes who sees the home is, and quot;it does not lokk like an addition.and quot;
<br /> The woodork was custome milled to match the original wordwork in the our. The brink in the new chimney was match to the exisitng brick and the slate roof and copper guttering were a perfect match to the home.
