"The service rep was very safety conscious and went over safety details on how to properly build a fire, how to dispose of the embers, how to avoid extra smoke coming into the house.&nbsp; he did a thorough examination of the chimney flues, inside and outside and checked some brick facing in the attic that a previous inspector had explained needed to be re-mortared.&nbsp; He had a thorough knowledge of the construction of our chimney and pronounced in in very good condition.&nbsp; He also confirmed the proper discharge location for fallen embers into the basement, which had been a worry for us.&nbsp; He pronounced that in good shape as well.&nbsp; He also went over the idea we wanted to explore of making the fireplace into a two sided one and he explained that this was indeed possible.&nbsp; but he recommended that we use the third flu, which he discovered and which no one had told us about, and explained we could convert that flu to a gas fired fireplace flu for the room on the other side.&nbsp; <br /> He cleaned up well after himself and was professional throughout.&nbsp; I will use him again every year.&nbsp; <br />

"Charged $99 for initial estimate in December. Told a part was needed, and we agreed to order it. A month later second appointment was cancelled because they said they obtained the wrong part. Then a third appointment was cancelled because of "inclement" weather -- slight rain and snow. Attempts to connect subsequent ignored. Net result: out nearly $100 bucks! And no fireplace this winter. Insufficient explanations. No apologies. Subsequent to review, American Professional Chimney manager contacted us and personally took charge of ordering and installing the part — indeed with extraordinary evening effort. The company also adjusted its charges to compensate us for our trouble. Management's effort to rectify our situation has restored our confidence in this enterprise.

"I had a great experience with Capitol Chimney. I called them for a chimney inspection because I had the plumbing company come out and check the boiler and other than needing a new damper motor (which they replaced), they said the boiler was fine. So after about a week, my boiler was still blowing hot air into the laundry room through the spill switch vent due to the backdraft from the chimney. This was the beginning of January and we were going to have a week of freezing temperatures and everyone was super busy. I called Capitol Chimney and they were nice enough to fit me in for a chimney inspection. Abraham and Carlos came out and were very friendly and explained everything about the chimney showing me the pictures of inside the chimney also explaing that I needed a chimney liner to fix the problem. They were very professional and made me feel like it was one of my friends talking to me. I appreciate good customer service as that is just as important as the quality of the work if not more so. I set up an appointment with Diana. She is fantastic! She knows a lot about chimneys, just as much as one of the techss! She was really great on the phone and I felt at ease with her and she kept me updated on where the truck was as well as all the email paperwork sent back and forth. Great customer service from her as well! Very important. So my appointment day to replace the chimney liner came and they were able to show up very early! Joaquin and Augustino were very nice and professional and such hard workers! I was curious how a chimney liner was installed and watched them do some of the work. It is very time consuming and hard work as there is a lot of cutting involved and work on the outside as well as the inside and the chimney cap looks so good that my neighbor said it is the nicest one on the block. HAHA! They really took the time to put the tarp down in the laundry room and were vacuuming the whole time they were working. In fact, the laundry room was cleaner after they left! Joaquin explained how the 'T' worked in the pipes and we tested the boiler and hot water heater and everything worked great. I am really happy with their work. In fact, I am happy with the whole process from beginning to end. It has been over a month now and the boiler is actually working better than it did before. It has worked every time we turn it on and that is a relief not having to worry about it anymore. So kudos to Capitol Chimney for an outstanding job! Thanks, Paul

"A customer rep phoned me in response to my Angi request. I was able to schedule a repair for the following morning Nick and Sol arrived during the 9-2 window. They quickly determined the problem and in short time cut out and replaced the leaking metal drainpipe with PVC. They left the work area dry and cleaner than before. I paid a non-refundable fee over the phone at the time I made the appointment and paid the repair cost when the job was done. The cost was reasonable for a job I couldn't do myself. I will call Honest Abe again next time the house has a plumbing problem.
