I purchased the deal on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Angies list says to contact the company via the messaging service. I've purchased deals before, and the merchants are usually very good about responding first. This was not the case with Service Master, so I called them on Wednesday, October 18 about repairing a broken refrigerator. There were no available slots on the 18th, so I asked about the 19th. The person to whom I spoke gave me the impression he was scheduling me for Thursday, October 19 for the 11-2 window. He even told me the tech would call be 30 minutes before he came. Fast forward to Thursday at 1:30 pm. No tech. No call, and, unfortunately, I did not get the name of the gentleman to whom I spoke. But whoever he was, apparently he did not put me in the system, because when I called on the 19th I was told I was not on their schedule. I explained that my refrigerator was dead and my food was spoiling...no sympathy. But I was put on the schedule on the 20th in the 10-1 window... I began this review after that conversation. If first impressions are worth anything, then Service Master will not be a merchant with whom I work again, regardless of how many 4 star ratings others give. The next part of the review will discuss my experience after the repair...

Called for service at 12:10pm. They returned my call within 5 minutes. I gave them the model number, confirmed they had the part, gave me the price and would be at my house by 2pm. PJ arrived at 1:45pm and within 20 minutes, my refrigerator was fixed. Service was quick and professional. I won't hesitate to call them again if I have the need for an appliance repair.

Ben from ARA came out the same day that I called. When looking at my frig he recognized right away that with the last repair job that I had done a wrong part had been placed in my frig. After further investigation he found the control board was bad. He didn't have the part in stock and said that it would have to be ordered. Later that day he called and gave me the web site with the cheapest price and said I should order it and let him know when I received the part. I checked around on the internet and called several local parts stores and he was correct. I ordered the part with next day delivery (a little pricey but I needed my frig!) When it arrived I called Ben back and he said he would be out the next morning to work on it. My refrigerator is now working. Ben was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very professional. I would definitely call him again. Note: I am assuming that he wanted me to order the part because of the shipping options and how much time vs money I wanted to spend. The part cost $140 with shipping and with Angie's List coupon the labor and service call cost $100. Cheaper than buying a new frig. I am very pleased with the work done by ARA.

The guy knew right away what the problem was. It was the ice maker bracket. It stuck so the ice would keep making and over flow. I do not use the ice maker so it was not a problem. The business is family run. There was no charge for the service.

I wasn't home when they arrived. My husband dealt with them. They were on time & replaced the motor. The next day I didn't have any ice, so I called them up. They came out again and did something else. I don't know exactly what, but after another day of no ice I called back. They came out again & told my husband that it wasn't something they could fix as it was probably an issue inside the wall of the fridge. We'd probably have to buy a new refrigerator. For over a year I asked my husband what they did & he said they couldn't fix it. I finally contacted another repair service on Angie's List & guess what - it was repairable! After all this time I've got ice cubes! I wouldn't use this company again. One good thing about them is that they didn't charge me for any service calls.

I called him because the drawer of the freezer of my Whirlpool fridge would not open. He turned up within 2 hours of when I called. I thought it was jammed with food. He said it was frozen because the defrost drain was clogged. He was right. I decided to try to fix it myself (still a work in progress). He was very professional about my decision. He gave me a quote of around $475 to do it himself. The $95 below as the cost of his visit.

We contacted Expert Applicance Services on Monday, December 23rd. They could have come out the same day, but we were busy - so they offered to come out Christmas Eve morning between 9am and Noon. Peter was here at about 11:30am. Diagnosed a dead motor on the ice maker within a few minutes. He had a replacement on the truck and within another 10 minutes or so had the new one installed and working. Very professional and very nice to work with. We will definitely use this company again.

The technician Sam is very knowledgeable, professional and punctual. He correctly diagnosed the problems during the first visit. Ordered the correct parts and replaced the parts in a subsequent visit. Throughout the repair session, he explained what he is doing and diligently completed the repair job. His expertise and professionalism are excellent. I would definitely rehire Expert Appliance Services in future and recommend them to others.

The Good; The personnel are: Professional; Punctual; Knowledgeable; Have Access to Whirlpool Technical Support The Not So Good: The personnel are: High Priced; Arrogant (see below). The first Technician looked at the refrigerator and diagnosed the problem as a "Defective Thermostat" requiring replacement. Part was ordered and was replaced by a second Technician. The refrigerator did not start functioning properly. Key thing is that the Technician did NOT TEST the thermostat but (in my estimation arrogance After calling Via Appliance the first Technician showed up and

My freezer stopped working and I had another company come out to look at it. I was not happy with the first company's tech. He did not seem to know what he was doing and his logic on why it was failing to cool was unclear. So, I called Expert Appliance Services and they had someone come out for a second opinion. Immediately, the tech knew exactly what was going on. He pointed out where the issue was taking place and it was explained to me in a clear fashion. He also encouraged me to fight Sears on paying to have it fixed since he felt they were responsible. And, instead of trying to convince me to use his company to fix it, he said, I would be wasting my money and I should just get a new fridge. So, I felt he was really looking out of me instead of just making a profit. I have used a lot of repair companies over the past few years of living in this area, and I will only be calling this company from now on. I was impressed with how honest he was, which is hard to find these days.

The water spout in our Whirlpool refrigerator had been dispensing water slowly for several weeks and the ice being made in the ice maker was coming out hollow. We called Expert Appliance Services (of which had serviced appliances in our house before) and expected that it would time some time for someone to come to our house to investigate our refrigerator. But NO! My wife called them in the morning and someone came by that evening to examine the problem. It took him just a short amount of time to figure out that the water regulator behind the water filter was broken and that was the source of our problem. The nice, professional serviceman ordered the part and came back two evening later to install the part. Right after the new part was installed, the water was flowing regularly and all was fixed. My family would like to thank Expert Appliance Service for their prompt response to our call for help and for their professionalism and expertise.

I have a Whirlpool refrigerator from IKEA that has stopped working 4 times from Oct. 2018 to May 2019. None other than VIA Appliance Repair from the Washington DC area has been the servicing technicians during those outages. Rather than replacing the unit, VIA Appliance Repair insists that they can fix the refrigerator. Due to either their incompetence of fixing the refrigerator or their inability to pressure IKEA to replace the unit, I've lost over $1,000 worth of food due to my fridge and freezer going out. Also, their responsiveness for home repairs is atrocious. I've never once had them come out within a 48 hour window from when I reported the issue. During one of the refrigerator outages, I was without a functioning fridge for 2-3 weeks while they pittled around doing nothing. I'm going on day 6 of my 4th fridge outing and I'm still waiting for repairs to be made. I do not recommend this company at all. I've experienced nothing but frustration and stress dealing with this company. I've had to toss numerous trash bags of food away every ~2 months. I have zero faith in their ability to repair appliances and you should too.

Great service. I was given a 2 hour window on a Sunday afternoon after calling at 9am. Ali called when he left his last job so I knew he was on his way. I think he was here less than 1.5 hours. He had no problem taking things apart, gaining access to the components in the back of the freezer, identifying the broken part, replacing it, defrosting the unit, testing and getting things back together. I was impressed because he used a heater and a steamer to defrost the coils. I just assumed a heat gun would be good enough but he explained why the steamer was needed around the plastic. Ali also answered tons of questions from a certain 5 year old who was ssooo curious and couldn't take his eyes off him. Very friendly and knowledgeable. When asked about what training, he said he goes to a refresher training every 6 months to stay on top of the new models, components and issues. $269 (after $55 coupon) seems high for replacing such a small part, but it was a lot of work to get in there, trouble shoot, and get it all back together. He has to bring all sorts of parts/tools/supplies provide 90 day parts and labor warranty, etc. The part he replaced is pretty cheap, but with his time, skills and professionalism... I wish it was cheaper, but I really can't complain. Not sure what other places charged. Great service, communication and very friendly. I can see why DMV is so well rated and I'll definitely use them again for any future work.

He will ever more be known as Saint Pius in our household! Despite the fact it was July 3rd, and I had just called in the morning, he was at my door within a few hours. He was friendly, courteous, and let me know each step of the way what he was doing. He did everything with a smile, despite the 90+ degree heat (our AC was also out due to the storm). He also showed me how to clean the fliter on the compressor fan to improve air flow. He not only honored the 5% discount coupon I was entitled to through Angie's List, but also gave me an additional discount as it was a large repair job. We will absolutely call him again for other appliance repairs.

Bottom line up front: Superior everything -- Happy beyond belief! Ten-year old Whirlpool fridge went warm the night before NYE party. The first Angie's list vendor I called was closed for the holidays. I was hesitant to call Discount Repair because they were based in VA, and we live much further north towards Clarksburg, MD. Doubtful, I called anyway and got an auto voicemail and left a message. However, dispatch (John) called me back in seconds. I needed a same day appointment, so he had to find a technician. A few minutes later, he called back: a tech was available to arrive by 11:30am. I was thrilled! Tech arrived on-time, quickly diagnosed problem and replaced the relay overload switch, which (he said) protects the compressor from self-destructing. The tech said if this didn't work, we'd be looking to replace the whole fridge. The job was completed quickly, and we were back in business! Three weeks later it's still working (fingers crossed). The total cost, which included the service call charge, was $159. I'm happy to report the Angie's List coupon (pay $20 for $55 toward the bill) saved us $35. Final bill came to $124 versus a whole new fridge. A great way to start the New Year! Can't say how happy we were with this company, the response, the service, etc. I'd highly recommend and very happy to write this review! (And now I turn back to Angie's List for a plumber... ugh!

The technician, although pleasant, to be lacking in the knowledge and skills to fix my fridge. In the process of installing a new ice maker, the technician broke a clip removing the upper shroud with no offer to replace it. First attempt to diagnose and repair the problems was in April 2014 and 5 visits later and now August 2014 the problem is still not fixed and icemaker and freezer remain unuseable. Through the several trips, they had diagnosed and replaced a defective ice maker, which probably wasn't, and a controller board/computer, the refrigerator still does not work with the new board either - no change. Several attempts to contact the office have failed and although voice mail requests for a call back were left, no call was returned. We were informed by the technician that since we do not have an extended warranty that we are placed behind those that do and that the service is more aggressive for those that do have the extended warranty. I would definitely NOT recommend this company for those seeking service on their appliances.

We called this provider because of their A rating and the fact that they were a local business. Our 1 year old Whirlpool refrigerator's ice machine had quit working. Miraculously It started working on its own before their appointment but we kept the appointment because there was still an issue with it leaking sporadically and we felt that the ice machine was still having issues. the guy came late, around 6, and said that it was probably the water pressure or the filter causing the issues. he adjusted the water pressure, cleaned the coils, and told us to use a whirlpool made filter. we bought a whirlpool filter and installed it but the ice maker quit working again. we called them back and got another appointment. the original appointment was for 3:30 on Thursday. they called to say they couldn't make it but would come the next day. the next day, a Friday, we waited and waited. My husband called around 5 pm but no one answered. we got a call around 6 pm but we were outside working in the yard, waiting for the repair person to come. the message was that they could have someone out at 6:30 or they would come the following week. i called back when i got the message, around 6:25, and got voice mail. i left a message saying that we wanted someone to come that day. no call back. i called back again and asked for him to return my call to let me know if they were coming. i never received a call back.

The ice maker in my 4 year old Whirlpool refrigerator had been broken for over a year. My husband called another Angie's list repair service last year. They replaced the motor, told me to wait a whole day. When it didn't make any ice they came back & tried again. When that didn't work they told my husband that it was something inside they couldn't get to & I'd probably have to buy a new fridge! (I couldn't believe that these guys couldn't find the problem. My husband insisted that they did everything - yeah right.) Fast forward, I called Expert Appliance & made an appointment. They were very punctual & professional. As soon as they entered the house the booties were donned. (My house isn't immaculate, but it was a nice touch). Pankaj took at look at the ice maker & tried a couple of things. If it wasn't the ice maker itself, then it was the control panel built into the side-wall of the freezer. We tried the easy way first. After 8 hours there were ice cubes in the maker, but they didn't drop. This identified what the issue was. He came back a couple of days later with all the parts needed. He replaced the control panel & the entire ice maker. In 8 hours -- SUCCESS!!!! The first ice cubes dropped! After 1 1/2 years of no ice it finally worked. I now have a huge bin filled. Oh yes, while he was here I mentioned that I needed the hoses replaced on my 10 year old GE washer. He got that done quickly with heavy duty hoses that would last a longer time than the puny ones that were there. This guy is my hero. I'm never going with another appliance service again. Repairing appliances is an art & this guy is a master at his craft. I took advantage of the 10% Angie's List coupon. While I kind of gulped at the cost, it was totally worth it.
