Jim's Appliance Repair Service & Sales
3.0
We have been clients of Jim's since 2001, and have always been happy with their service. With the exception of a few repairs, we have mainly contracted with Jim's to clean the coils, etc. of our Sub Zero fridge, originally, and now our KitchenAid fridge, twice a year. The two-year prepaid contracts we have signed with Jim's have specified when each cleaning would take place, and we have received a call like clockwork to schedule each appointment. Until now. I recently realized that we hadn't had a cleaning this year, though there should have been one in January based upon the established schedule. When I called the office, I was told that they had called me "numerous times" (I received NO messages), and because I had not called back, I had "forfeited the cleaning." Wow -- really? Is that any way to treat a client? No apology and a fair amount of push-back. Very disappointing. The woman in the office agreed to "reinstate" my account, scheduled the forgotten cleaning, and promised to send a new contract with the service technician when he comes. While I will most likely re-up with Jim's for another series of cleanings, I need to give it some thought after such shabby treatment. Let me be clear: we have always been happy with the technician's work, but the company's management needs to up their game.

Excellent. We have a service contract with Jim's, and their attentive care to our refrigerator has kept it running trouble-free and extended its lifespan.

The service man came within the appointed time and called 10 mins before arriving. He went right to work, showed me the parts that needed to be replaced and provided the cost for the repair. He had the parts, so he replaced them and saw to it that the dishwasher and refrigerator were working before he left. Repairing these myself obviously would have been a lot cheaper, but I was uncomfortable pulling these appliances apart. Unfortunately I'm stuck with having to pay for these types of repairs -- but I'm happy with the results. I will definitely call them again when I need an appliance serviced.

The service was excellent. However, the part (computer board) was no longer manufactured, so the refrigerator was unfixable.

I called DMV Appliance Repair on Monday, November 4th. I was off work on Wednesday, November 6th and DMV accommodated my scheduled appointments. Ali was the technician. He arrived right on time, was very professional and pleasant. He knew exactly what the problem was and how to resolve it. I was very pleased and will definitely call DMV Appliance again for any home appliance repairs that come up (hopefully there won't be any). Victoria Wickert

I had a tiny leak coming from my refrigerator, which I thought (hoped) was related to the ice maker. I called and left a message and received a call immediately back from Tina at DMV. She was terrific and very, very professional. She explained how they work -- 3-hour appointment window, no charge for the service call if work is authorized, Angie's List coupon would apply even without a printed copy. The repair person showed up on time, work was done quickly, and repair was very reasonably priced. I would totally use this company again. Tina was wonderful. Polite, professional and they were punctual and affordable.

We called the company based on its Angie's List reviews, and once again were very pleased with the results. The technician Simon arrived when promised, determined the problem ( cracked water valve), left to get the necessary part, and returned and repaired our refrigerator. The job took at least two hours and we felt the price was quite fair. Plus, Simon was very likable and professional. We plan to call the company for all our future appliance repairs

Apple Appliance Repair - Fairfax

The repairman came promptly on Monday morning and effected a repair. Unfortunately, the repair did not work as once one part went in, a circuit board shorted. Apple returned 3 times and we all agreed it was time for new appliance. Apple took the new parts back and has promised a refund, charging me only for two repair visits, which was quite fair. I would use them again.

I came home after business hours on a Thursday and discovered my refrigerator was not working. Threw out all the food. I had a guest so off we went to dinner and I was depressed because I was sure there was no way to get it fixed the next day (a Friday). But I looked on Angie's List, saw the good reviews for DMV, and sure enough they came that afternoon in the interval they predicted. The repair person was very professional about moving the refrigerator (which is jammed into a tight spot) and quickly determined the computer was dead. But the best part was that he or the appointment scheduler had asked the brand, so he had the part and replaced it. I had a refrigerator back before the weekend (though my guest and I still ate out a lot).

Service Master

I've used Service Master several times for large appliance repair and have always found our technician, Lucky, to be honest and reliable. On his first visit, he said he needed to replace the temperature sensor in the freezer compartment. He ordered the part and came out the next day, a Saturday, and put it in. However, this didn't solve the problem. I spoke with him and he said it would be necessary to replace the control board. He had been trying to save us money and he said replacing the temperature sensor often worked. The control board was ordered and he was back the next day to install it. Everything is working perfectly.

Al, the repairman was extremely professional and helpful - even though they could not proceed with the repair. They determined it was likely a warranty covered repair which they do not perform. He provided helpful advice for finding and dealing with a warranty repair company. Al's experience, advice, and honesty would earn our business every time ! In fact his warnings about how some warranty companies treat customers and raise prices proved to be true - my review of that company is NOT favorable.

My KitchenAide oven was not working correctly on the regular bake or broil cycles but the convection cycles were working fine. I thought that the computer control probably needed to be replaced so, based on good reviews from Angie's List, I called Alco Appliance. The service technician arrived promptly on the scheduled day and carefully checked all the oven functions. He determined that the control panel did not need to be replaced, the oven only needed to be recalibrated and that is what he did. The technician could have sold me a new control panel at a cost of several hundred dollars and I would have been none the wiser. Instead, the charge for recalibration was just over $100. The oven has been working perfectly for over a month now. It is wonderful to find a company with such high integrity! They have my highest recommendation.

Our KitchenAid refrigerator starting breaking down this past week, unbeknownst to us. So on Saturday morning when we woke up to a freezer full of melted ice/ice cream we were wondering what happened. After google'ing for the problem we found that it's either a compressor or compressor relay problem. We looked up a few companies but EAS were the only ones opened on the weekend. So we called Sunday morning at 9:30 and they were able to get a guy out to us between noon and 2. They said on the phone that there is a $50 weekend fee, which I guess isn't too bad so we made the appointment. The guy promptly showed up at noon, deduced that it was a relay problem and put in a new part for us. The only reason I gave a B on the price was we didn't look into any other companies to see what their price was cause it was the weekend and no one else was opened. But for $179 to come fix a fridge on a Sunday....probably not a bad price.

We were able to get a same day appointment to have our dishwasher fixed. The tech called before arriving, and arrived at the beginning of the window that we were given. He had the parts necessary to complete the repair on his truck, and worked quickly to get the work completed. He was also very friendly and professional.

It went great from start to finish. Called and spoke to Bonnie who set up the appt. She was very nice over the phone. The Tech. who came was on time and called to say when we would arrive 10 minutes out. I thought I was going to save some $$ so I purchased a door seal from an online Appliance Store after watching UTube.I installed it but it still leaked. That's when I called All American Appliance Service Inc.The tech open the door of the dishwasher and saw I installed the door seal backwards. Showed me the rib on it and how that need to be turned around. Told me it was a common mistake if you do not know what your doing. He installed it and we turned on the dishwasher. It seem to fix it and I told him so when suddenly water was leaking again. We quickly turned off the water and said it was the valve. He had one on the truck. We talked about his childern, old job, and come to find out I knew his Dad who work for the Cnty. when I did.He was very friendly. He spoke very highly of his companyand like working for them.I would call them for any appliance work I need again. I was not charge for re-installing the door seal just the valve, which I thought was very kind of them. After installing the valve the tech. stayed to make sure it did not leak and told me if it did to call him and he would come back as soon as he could. I did not have to do that. NO LEAKS. Happy wife Happy Life.

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! After two years, our new fridge began making a high pitched noise and the compressor was running constantly. We called customer service and scheduled a service visit within a week. The 1st technician (7/14) diagnosed the problem as a faulty compressor and indicated one would be ordered ASAP. After not hearing back, we began calling customer service and experienced either no answer, or no returned messages. Finally, we spoke with a representative who indicated an inverter had been ordered. We asked why the compressor was not ordered per the technician's advice and the response was "we ordered an inverter." The compay indicated he part was due in August 2nd. We called on 8/2 and were told that the part was backordered until 8/31. We then called KitchenAid directly and they indicated that the part was in stock. The technician came back in early September and explained that he was told by KitchenAid that the problem was the inverter, and that is why the part order was changed. The technician then installed the inverter, but the problem persisted. The technician then determined the problmem must have been the compressor. According to B&S the compressor was ordered immedeately. On Monday 9/20 (2.months after the original call) a new tecnician came back to install the compressor. Within 1 minute of looking at the fridge he diagnosed a problem with the cooling fan and indicated that the compressor and inverter were fine. We explained our profound frustration with the experience and he indicated that we would receive the part ASAP. We followed up with B&S the following Monday and were told the part was ordered the previous Tuesday, and were given an expected part delivery date that had come and gone. When we pushed the issue, the "service woman" said "we'll call you when it gets in." Today is 9/29 and we still have not heard anything. We have been without our refridgerator for almost 2.5 months. I cannot express enough what an awful experience this has been and coninues to be. I am left with the opinion that B&S views its custmers as suckers to exploit. As I review this commentary I do not believe it does the experience justice. There are no words to describe the feeling I have toward Bray & Scarff. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. THEY TREAT YOU LIKE TRASH. I CANNOT BELIEVE JUST HOW BAD IT IS. An "F" rating is generous.

Called on Thursday afternoon and technician was able to come next day! Tech was prompt (actually called and said he could arrive earlier and asked if that was okay), put shoe covers on before entering my house, used tarp to protect floor where working, quoted price before beginning repair, completed work quickly, and even gave me info on a warranty-covered common problem with our microwave (in case it ever acts up). Highly recommend & will be at top of my list for future needs or referrals!
