  • James Taylor Construction Inc
I met with the Winston-Salem local representative, Bryan Sepich. He was prompt in his estimate, and was willing to work with us when we had to scale back our project due to budgetary constraints. He arranged for a local carpenter to build the necessary framework for the new roof, then came in to do the actual roof, guttering, soffits and tidy up where the roof hit my siding. I found Bryan to extremely quality conscious, and he went as far as sending the siding person back by my house after he noticed something that wasn't up to his standards during his post-job lookover. I'm going to have them do my house and garage in the fall

  • James Taylor Construction Inc
It went very well. We discovered mold on the interior walls of a storage room off the side of our house and later determined that water was seeping into the room via porous, damaged siding. We wanted to address the issue quickly and as economically as possible. We also knew there were other spots of damaged siding (and trim) that needed to be fixed elsewhere on the house. Several other siding businesses I called wouldn't even do repairs--just new installations. The masonite siding used on our house is no longer available, but rather than try to sell us a whole house-worth of vinyl siding, Bryan suggested that they could pull any good siding off the storage room and use it to repair all of the places identified. That sort of problem solving sold me on James Taylor Construction pretty quickly. Bryan was also super friendly, very responsive to texts and emails, and clearly on top of things. He called to keep me posted on what was going on and when things would happen. Additionally, he was sweet with my kids, which tends to go a long way with me. A crew of five guys shows up on a Monday morning and got to work. They stayed late both days to finish things up. They encountered some surprise termite damage and dealt with the it efficiently, carefully, and, most importantly, thoroughly. They fixed some additional spots of rot without a fuss. And by Tuesday evening the work was complete. They cleaned up after themselves each day and were polite (and grateful for snacks!). The gutter took all of 20 minutes for a different subcontractor to install on Wednesday and I hardly new the guy was here! I'd hire them again in a second

Good practices for contracting a community siding contractor

Hiring a community professional to make alterations to your home takes a considerable amount of faith. Guarantee you hire the best siding professional for your project by going over the elements below as you pare down your results.

Make sure to work with properly licensed, insured contractors

When you employ anyone to do work on your property, ensure they have the right insurance coverage. Insurance protects the professional and its laborers if something should occur on the job, and it will safeguard your interests, too.

Employing a properly licensed contractor is also essential. If your state or community mandates that siding professionals hold licenses, hiring a contractor who doesn’t could put your job at risk legally or cause issues with any necessary permits.

View a collection of jobs and solicit credentials

Avoid contracting siding companies hastily. Ask them for pictures of projects previously completed, particularly if they have previously performed projects on a property like yours. Then, you can preview what the finished product looks like to determine if a business is the best choice for your job. You can also ask for testimonials so you can seek guidance from previous customers and suss out what they liked best about employing them.

Go over the small points meticulously

Always go over any agreement fully prior to signing on the dotted line. If a business won’t put things in writing, that’s a red flag that should have you thinking twice prior to signing a contractual agreement with them.

What you might pay when contracting contractors to side your house

Average prices for siding a property nationally vary from $2,900 to $44,000. That’s a large range because so many elements influence the cost of home siding installation projects. You can’t really get a correct average before considering all that’s involved.

Square footage definitely matters when it comes to the expense of installing siding onto a home. The larger your house’s exterior surface area—or the bigger the dimensions of the part to be sided—the more materials and time the job needs, which causes the cost to go up.

Additionally, the type of siding plays a role in overall price. Typical siding made of vinyl is the cheapest and averages $2 to $3 per square foot. Aluminum siding prices are similar, averaging $3 to $4 per square foot.

Stone and brick veneer are some of the priciest materials. For the latter, you’ll pay, on average, $3 to $10 per square foot, and the former costs $8 to $11 per square foot.

Additional work needed to hang siding influences the cost of your project, too. If the siding company has to fix or replace rotting boards or other materials first, the prices tend to rise.

A good way to start to understand how much your job might cost is to ask for quotes from contractors in your area.
