"If you value your sanity, don't ever contract with the new owners of Carpet Cowboys. They are charlatans from Chicago who don't do their research for installation of flooring in another climate besides Chicago. We had 800 sq ft of flooring installed in early December, where they proceeded to put nails through our heated pads even though we told them they were high voltage. Then after they replaced the heat pads, they did an unacceptable installation that looks like the attached photos. Btw, that pole from ceiling to floor is how they attempted to "fix" the flooring, which is all warped. Why is it warped? According to the floor rep it's the contractor's responsibility to check the humidity in the house to make sure it is compatible with the environment. Well they didn't do that, and now, instead of making it right six months into a minor job, they want us to put in a humidifier! I guess, being from Chicago, they don't get most people keep their windows open in the mountain summers. That was about 3 weeks ago, and ever since they have ghosted us. Not worth it when there are other options, even IF. Constant gaslighting and ghosting and plain old lying. I hope no one else will lose $15G and an enormous amount of time with these unethical and amateur owners."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

Taking carpet off stairs is an easy but multi-step process you can usually do yourself. If you have the right tools, time, and oomph to finish the job, removing carpet from stairs can be an easy-to-medium difficulty task, depending on your stairs, the type of carpet installed, and how willing you are to get your hands dirty. It’s important to review the process, gather the right tools before you begin, and follow a tutorial or directions while you work.

You can expect your carpet protection to last about six months to two years. It will last longer in low-traffic areas (compared to busy areas, where your carpet experiences more wear and tear). Once the protector wears off, you’ll need to call your carpet contractor to reapply the stain protection treatment and revive your carpet

On average, installing carpet costs between $3 and $11 per square foot, depending on factors like the carpet material, style, and labor rates in your area. Sometimes, installers will include carpet removal in these costs, so if you don’t have any carpet to remove, you can save time and spend less money on labor.

It takes about one to three days for a two-person crew to lay 800 to 1,000 square feet of flooring daily. Remember that removal of existing flooring and additional prep work is considered during this time, and it’s likely that you won’t be able to pass through the room easily. In addition, you can expect lots of hammering and other noise from power tools during installation, so it’s best to plan accordingly.

Yes, carpet tiles are easy to install—even if you don’t have much DIY experience. In fact, the simple installation process is one of the main reasons that people choose carpet tiles over traditional carpet. Since carpet tiles come in individual squares, they aren’t as heavy or awkward to install as regular carpet. Plus, you don’t need specialized equipment (like knee kickers or carpet stretchers) when installing carpet tiles.
