Powder River Heating and Air Conditioning was founded in 1979 to meet Campbell County's need for dependable HVAC service and quality HVAC installation. Powder River Heating and Air Conditioning is a full Mechanical Contractor offering plumbing, engineering, sheet metal, refrigeration, and service. Our sercice department has become Wyoming's largest. The construction department has installed all types of HVAC and mechanical systems including public works, multi-million BTU heaters in mine environments, infra-red heating systems, hot water radiant and office HVAC to name a few. Our work force averages 110 full time employees with offices in Gillette, Buffalo and Sheridan Wyoming.

"I had the pleasure and honor of working with Cathleen at Powder River heating and A/C on a client customer basis. While she works in the office vs the field, the impact she made on me as I was figuring out invoices etc was enough to make me stop and write her a review. I run multiple companies and understand the value of people like Cathleen being the interface between the field and the public. She is worth her weight in Bitcoin. Cathleen was kind and relatable but my favorite part was how resourceful she was. She went above and beyond to answer all my questions and even followed up with sending me hard copies in the mail with a nice hand written personal note. When calling in to pay an invoice people may not always be in the highest state when calling in, but after talking with Cathleen you can't not be. Anyways, I just had to say something. Thank you again for the laughs that day Cathleen! Sheri Hollenback"

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

As long as a licensed professional installs your gas lines, you don’t have to do anything extra to prepare for cold weather. If there are pipes that require a wrap, your installer should have done it for you already. If you want to be absolutely sure your gas system is good to go for winter, the best option is to schedule a gas line inspection.

Most gas companies and utilities brokers will send a technician to relight a pilot light, but this may demand a service call fee. Contact your local gas company to inquire about available pilot light services. If it’s a no-go, just follow the aforementioned steps and light the manual boiler’s pilot light yourself.

The cost of repairing a gas leak depends on the type of leak, its severity, and how difficult it is for the repair technician to reach it. Some of the most common gas line repair costs, on average, include:

  • Cap a gas line: $75–$150

  • Gas system inspection: $150

  • Pressure test: $75–$500

  • Damaged or corroded pipe: $6–$7 per linear foot

  • Repair gas leak: $120–$5,000

It’s possible to convert an electric dryer to a gas dryer, but it’s not practical or cost-effective. A pro would need to remove specific components from your electric unit and install parts unique to gas dryers. Rather than going through this time-consuming process, you can remove your old electric dryer and have a pro install a new gas dryer.

Most qualified local plumbers in your area should be able to help with this job. However, it's always best to check with your utility company before starting any gas-related project. Speak with them about your needs and request recommendations for licensed plumbers who can pull permits and properly install the line.
