"Ryan, Alejandro, and Josh made what could’ve been a very stressful foundation repair feel easy and manageable. Their communication was excellent throughout the process, and they took the time to share their knowledge and explain what was happening each step of the way. Even when unexpected issues arose that extended the project by a day, they stayed flexible and returned right away to complete it. They were professional, efficient, and even took the time to clean up thoroughly before leaving. Highly recommend!"

"I would never recommend this person. I have a two page list that would keep a person in work for the next month. He came in and I started by showing him the electric fireplace that needed hung on the wall and he couldn't seem to grasp the concept of an electric fireplace, or hanging it on the wall, which is a home fashion trend (see photo of box, which keeps falling over and item will soon break if I can't get it installed). Then he told me I would need to install an outlet. The outlet was on the wall. I was pointing at it (see photo). He still couldn't understand hanging the fireplace on the wall. It is made to be hung on a wall. It is not a standing fireplace! Since he couldn't seem to grasp that I was basically asking him to hang a heavy picture for me, I decided to move on. I told him the most urgent project was replacing the front door. I've had two expert opinions and consulted with the local hardware store employees and was told it would be cheaper to replace both the screen and front door rather than to try fix them, discover the fix didn't work, then get caught in another winter with wind blasting through my house (I literally have to stuff cardboard around all four sides of the door to keep the wind out). I explained that I wanted/needed the front screen and door replaced for both practical and aesthetic reasons--the frame is old and falling apart, the paint is so thick in some areas it's in chunks, and both doors are in bad shape. He argued every point. I told him if he thought the door was so nice I could always have him rehang it on the garage where I spend a lot of time. He continued to argue, repeating about the insulation and the poor job someone did hanging the house. I bought it in March and have struggled to fix the previous owner's mistakes every day since. I don't need lectured on how someone else did a bad job, I want a new door! He spent half an hour lecturing me about how I didn't know what I was talking about and the people at the hardware store are "idiots" and insisted on having me step in and out of the house so he could show me how the door doesn't fit! I've taken pictures, consulted with others, discussed my options repeatedly and as I also explained to him--a family member gave me the money to replace both doors just to get it done before winter! It is urgent and paid for! He finally said, "Look, I've been doing this for 30 some years and if you think you..." I stopped listening to the "stupid female" lecture and left the room to get my list so we could move on to the next item. When I returned and he was still talking about how he knew more than I did. I want a new door. That's MY business, not his. Why would anyone argue with a paying customer who is standing in the doorway with a checkbook in her hand? I've been searching for a handyperson since March. I have everything in boxes, blocking my access to my house, waiting, and didn't even make it past the second item on my two page list with this man. He was being so argumentative that two neighbor boys who were riding by on their bikes stopped to ask who he was and what was going on. They couldn't figure out why he was acting that way toward me. After 45 minutes of listening to him ramble about things I've discussed with experts all summer long I told him I'd find someone else to install my front door. I also need screens on my windows (someone tried to break in when I was moving) and on both back doors. I have no air circulation in the house because I have no screens. I need help painting--there is so much work here for someone who wants to actually work and doesn't want to waste people's time, and I was not arguing about money or payment. I wasn't arguing at all. I simply told him "these are the things I need done." If I was a handyperson and someone asked me to replace their door, I would replace the door, I wouldn't argue about how nice the door is! Now I will spend yet another winter stuffing cardboard pieces around all four sides of my door to keep the wind out because everyone else I've called is booked until October. ! I had the money to pay him in my hand--I could have paid in advance! I have plenty of money for labor and everything I need for the jobs. I paid him nothing. I am no longer surprised that he had time available when everyone else was booked up!"

Due to the nature of basements, some level of waterproofing is necessary to prevent water from seeping in and causing damage. Some definitive signs that your basement needs waterproofing measures or needs existing waterproofing measures need to be updated include:
Water in your basement, including damp walls or puddles on the floor
Mold spots in your basement
Musty smells or odors
Warped doors or walls
Cracks in walls
Insect issues, such as cockroaches and termites
You can DIY basement waterproofing in some ways to help save on the overall costs. If your basement isn’t experiencing a lot of water but is noticeably humid, you can try running a dehumidifier that will pull the excess water out of the air. If you notice water leaking due to outdoor drainage issues, you can add downspout extensions to keep rainwater away from your home.
However, if the problem is more severe and requires a more extensive solution, it’s best to call a basement waterproofing professional to assess the treatment you need and install waterproofing safeguards properly. Since keeping water out of your basement is important, ensuring this job is done correctly the first time is best.
Damp proofing and waterproofing are both methods to help keep your basement dry. Damp proofing keeps soil moisture from entering your basement, which is helpful since your basement is underground. Waterproofing, however, keeps both soil moisture and liquid water out of the basement, which is essential, especially if you live in a wet environment. Because it’s more protective, waterproofing typically costs more than damp proofing.
Several factors dictate if you should waterproof the interior or exterior of your basement. Waterproofing the exterior of your home is a great option if you use your basement for storage, as it provides the most protection from water and water damage. If you prefer work done outside of your home versus inside, exterior waterproofing is best for you. However, interior waterproofing is often less expensive since the area is easier to reach and requires less labor.
The cost of basement waterproofing is $4,950 for the average homeowner. However, you could end up paying between $600 and $14,000, depending on factors like basement size, waterproofing method, and the region you live in.
If you live in an area with heavy rainfall, you might be paying more for waterproofing than if you lived somewhere drier since waterproofing contractors would be in high demand. Likewise, a 500-foot basement costs between $2,500 and $5,000 to waterproof, but that price rises significantly for a larger basement.
