"I have a large basement - ever since Hurricane Sandy I have had water leakage into the basement after a big rain - which continued to get worse. "It went fantastically well, It did not take him long to find the problem and then solve it. He came in and look under the sink. Went under the house found the pipe shook it and said here is the problem. Hr removed a section of the pipe and found the stoppage removed it , repaired pipe and sink workes like new. "The first one they ordered was the wrong kind so this delayed the installation. The plumbing company they used had to come back after the installation because there was a leak at the wall. Thank goodness it was in the garage. I was not happy that I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades which were not covered by my policy."

The best way to unclog a bathtub drain is to pour a pot of boiled water down the drain, being careful not to splash yourself. Cover the drain with a small sink plunger and let it sit for 15 minutes. Pour boiling water down the drain again and replace the drain stopper.

The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

Liquid drain cleaners are harsh chemicals that can erode your pipes. To treat a slow drain or for preventative maintenance, pour hot water down the drain to break up gunk and help move it along. Make sure the water isn’t boiling hot (keep it under 140 degrees Fahrenheit) if you have plastic pipes. However, you’ll need to pull the clog out for bigger backups. 

Once you’ve poured the baking soda and vinegar into a drain, you should wait about 10 minutes for the mixture to break down the clog. If you try the baking soda and vinegar method and it doesn't work, you can do it again or try the baking soda and salt trick.
