The late Keith Lavender and (Living) Ruth Lavender founders of Keith's Kitchens, wanted to do God's Will so thru prayer and God's Grace started Keith's Kitchens on July 6th 1978. Keith Lavender's son Charles Lavender and wife Terri, manage Keith's Kitchens today with the help of over twenty employees and five installation crews. Keith's Kitchens build and manufacture our own custom made cabinets without our customer's paying the custom prices. A granite and quartz yard is on site for the customer to choose their countertop material.

We are family owned and operated and have been serving Charleston for 60 years. We have our own installers who average 31 years experience. We sell and install carpet, hardwood, ceramic, porcelain, vinyl tile and more.

"I ordered $7,000 worth of hardwood floors for a rehab that my company was doing. When the wood came in, it was defective (holes, rough spots and cracks). I immediately notified Andrews and the owners were VERY difficult. They came to the house to view the wood, they agreed to take it back. At first she wanted to charge me a 20% restocking fee and then stated that she did not have the money to refund me. I agreed to wait until 1/15 (3 weeks) for my money in exchange of the delivery fee being waived. On 1/11 I received a receipt where they had refunded the amount owed -$600. She added a credit card swipe fee ($460) and a deliver fee ($139 which we agreed would be waived since she didn't have the money to pay me immediately). In all, they refused to refund $600 of my money. I guess I was supposed to pay them for selling me defective wood. I am having to sue them to get the remainder of my money."

While carpet over carpet may provide some additional insulation and soundproofing benefits, it's not as effective as other methods. Layering carpets can add a modest buffer against noise and temperature fluctuations, but it's limited compared to installing thicker carpet padding or using specialized soundproofing materials. For optimal floor insulation and soundproofing, consider alternative solutions tailored to your specific needs and budget, such as adding additional padding or soundproofing underlayments beneath the carpet.

While it's possible to cover asbestos tile with carpet, it's not recommended. Encapsulating tile beneath carpet doesn't eliminate the health risks. Over time, the asbestos tiles could degrade, releasing fibers into the air and potentially contaminating the carpet. Disturbance during carpet installation or removal might also release fibers.

Vinyl and linoleum are the most affordable flooring for a mobile home. The material costs $3 to $7 per square foot—or half as much as hardwood and slightly less than laminate. 

Overall, vinyl isn’t as durable as linoleum, but it performs best in areas with high levels of moisture. Luxury vinyl plank (LVP) or luxury flooring tile (LVT) has added durability with just a slightly higher price tag. 

Dry rot or severe water damage may warrant a replacement, but you don’t always need to replace damaged subflooring. If your subfloor has warped because it was installed incorrectly, you can sometimes shim the panels (in other words, add a thin, wedge-shaped piece of wood to level the surface). If your subfloor bows upward, you may be able to sand it down at the joist so it’s level, depending on the extent of the damage.

Steam mopping might be better than regular mopping if you don’t use the right cleaning products or properly rinse or wring out the mop head. However, if you use the right techniques, regular mopping also sanitizes effectively—even if it takes more effort. Plus, you know you can use a regular mop on any flooring—including to clean laminate floors or hardwood, which don’t do well with steam cleaning.
