"Owner showed up the same day I called to give an estimate. The full team showed up 24 hours later and performed the job. They left the place cleaner than it was when they arrived. Fast, safe, professional, excellent service. They actually do what they say they will do. This is the second time we have hired their services. I will hire them again and highly recommend C&A services."

The whole crew was GREAT, They did a fantastic job and I felt completely at ease with them at my home. which is unusual for me, I would hire them back in a minute and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! "They show up early and just work until the job is done. The prices they offer are market friendly. It is nice seeing people that go above and beyond what they promise. Wimer Tree service makes money the old fashioned way, "they earn it'. Garry Dauron"

I am a young business owner and brand new father! I have worked all over the construction industry from a young age and became a licensed plumber before I finished highschool. The name “One man” Freelancing was inspired by my service in the WV national guard where I still currently serve as the “one man” a term given to the cannon crewmember who loads and fires the artillery cannons. I have a broad range of knowledge and problem solving skills, if I don’t know how to do the job I will surely be able to learn and you will not be disappointed with results!

"Initially J had a problem with the job not being finished and no communication with the contractor as to when I could expect completion. After filing my complaint, my phone rang and the contractor set up a time to finish the job. The crew finished removing the tree, cut up and cleared the brush to my satisfaction. The price for the service was negotiated down due to the communication breakdown so all ended well. So here you have an amended review with a good recommendation."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

Completely topping a plum tree is a risky business. Cut too much, and you’ll kill your tree. That said, you do need to trim the top of your tree to encourage bushy growth, maintain your tree’s vase shape, and limit size.

A plum tree's central leader (or trunk) should never extend more than 3 feet above the highest branch. When you first plant your tree, cut the central leader so it’s 2 to 3 feet tall. As it grows, cut it back 12 to 20 inches until it reaches its desired height. Never prune more than one-third of the new growth.

A pro can guide you on the alternatives to tree topping depending on the specific issues within your trees. For example, if you’re dealing with breakage and cracks in your tree, they may suggest canopy reduction, which removes less than 25% of the tree’s limbs. If you’re dealing with lesser damage, some intentional pruning may be all you need. If you’re looking to get a clearer view through your tree, the pro may also try windowing or skirting your tree.

Trees should be pruned every two to five years, depending on its age and type. Young trees should be inspected and pruned every two to three years. Mature trees should be inspected and trimmed every three to five years, and fruit trees should be pruned annually with a careful eye on seasonal growth. Evergreens typically don’t need pruning, unless branches or limbs are damaged, diseased, or harboring pests.

You can use a chainsaw, but it won’t remove the entire stump or root ball and is not a recommended method. It takes quite a bit of physical work to achieve and will likely dull or ruin your chainsaw. Instead, consider using salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, stump grinding, or burning to kill a tree stump. These methods allow you to kill a stump using minimal machinery and physical exertion.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.
