"Altek drained out our crawl space, installed a new sump pump and encapsulated our entire crawl space adding a dehumidifier. They completed that in 4 and a half days. They showed up on time and were very professional. The project manager checked in always in person and by calling. I always got a summary at the end of each day on where they are at. I definitely recommend this company, the service was great. We are very happy."

"Raeann was my home inspector and she did such a thorough job that I actually ended up backing out of a house I had previously intended on buying. Prior to hiring her I knew the house needed a lot of work and we were about 75% okay with moving forward, we just wanted to determine just how much work it would need and what she found was extremely informative. What we thought could be a cheap fixer upper of a new floor/ceiling and bathroom/kitchen remodel was actually something that would have required pretty much every specialist you can think of to get involved. She went above and beyond for my family and truly saved us from making a devastating financial decision. I will definitely be requesting her for the next home we look into! Thank you !"

Mold Testing and Remediation questions, answered by experts

Most of the health problems associated with exposure to fiberglass insulation are short-term in nature. You may suffer from minor and temporary skin or eye irritation if you come into contact with it, and you may experience some sneezing, coughing, or breathing issues if you inhale fiberglass. Those with asthma and allergies may suffer more and longer. Though fiberglass was once a suspected carcinogen, there’s now no good evidence that exposure to fiberglass can cause lung cancer.

Odors, humidity problems, and health symptoms like headaches or allergies.

Some causes of brown well water—like excess tannins or dissolved iron—don’t pose a health risk. In other cases, harmful bacteria might be the culprit. If your well water has suddenly turned brown, it’s a good idea to use a home water test kit to get a better sense of what’s going on with your water. Consider calling a professional for an expert opinion before drinking the water and hoping for the best.

Mold is a fungus that typically grows in warm, moist environments, which is why it's so often found in bathrooms, attics, and under sinks. It survives by digesting decaying organic materials, which makes it very helpful for removing dead plant matter around the world. However, if it starts eating away at your drywall, window frames, and flooring, it can harm your home and your health.

You can check your home's humidity in a few ways. A simple option is to use a hygrometer, which you can find at a hardware or big box store. Your smartphone may also have an app that can measure humidity. Modern thermostats, particularly smart thermostats, are also able to measure humidity levels.
