"Luisa was dependable, prompt, extremely skilled, and very knowledgeable. During this deck repair we floated a footer, replaced boards, reinstalled steps and railings. All excellent work! Additionally she installed an outside hose bib that for some reason the previous homeowner had not replaced in this 1938 home. She had the knowledge and skill set to complete both jobs efficiently. We had several estimates for the deck job and by far she was the most reasonable and dependable!!! I would highly recommended her for your home repairs!!!"

"One of the best contractors we have had the pleasure of working with. Bill and John Clark were very courteous and professional from our initial estimate request until the job was completed. The painting crew were dependable, polite, conscientious workers and their attention to the small details gave the impression the were owners not employees. I really can't say enough about Chris and the rest of the crew. We will definitely hire Paintworkz for any future painting jobs."

"I was very pleased with the work done. They did a great job fixing the roof on my shed. Not only does it looks good, the inside will now be protected from the harmful weather that could have caused damage to storage."

Small jobs welcome

"When I talked to them I told him that I wanted the house and the deck and patio and the fence around the deck and patio power washed. They did not do the deck nor the patio for he said it was not included in the price! They came without a ladder to power wash a two-story house and had to be provided with one!"

Small jobs welcome

"Corey has worked for us for several years, providing lawn and yard maintenance services, and during that time he has consistently demonstrated exceptional reliability, professionalism, and dedication. Corey is incredibly dependable?he always completes his work thoroughly and with great attention to detail. He not only fulfills his responsibilities without fail but also goes above and beyond what is expected. On numerous occasions, if we had not yet reached out to schedule yard work, Corey would take the initiative to contact us to ensure everything was taken care of in a timely manner. His strong work ethic and proactive communication have made him an invaluable part of maintaining our property. It is rare to find someone so committed to doing their job well and taking pride in the results. I have the utmost confidence in Corey?s abilities and character. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any role or service that requires reliability. Carla N."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

Decks are generally more expensive to build because they require elevating and railings. The difference between decks and patios is that decks are elevated, while patios are usually on the ground level. Plus, decks are usually made of wood and need more maintenance than most patios. However, decks and patios serve the same purpose, providing outdoor space for you to enjoy.

Although composite decking is extremely durable, it’s also susceptible to extreme heat. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading, warping, and cracking. Composite also retains heat more than wood, which makes it dangerous to walk on in the summer. You can help prevent heat damage by only building with composite in shaded areas or using rugs to cover the hottest spots.

Pressure-treated wood contains preservatives that give the material internal protection from rot and pests. Untreated lumber won’t last more than a few years unless you choose a more expensive wood, like cedar, that naturally stands up well to moisture. Composite decking can outlast wood but is more expensive and doesn’t look as natural. Keep in mind that you’ll need to seal any exterior wood product to protect it from the elements and other forms of external damage.

There are several methods for attaching stair stringers to a deck. The best way is to bolt the stringers to the deck joists using three carriage bolts in a triangular pattern. This method offers the sturdiest fit for stairs that won’t budge. Alternatively, attach the stringers to the deck rims using lag bolts or to the posts using adjustable slope hangers.

Yes, you can attach a deck to a mobile home, but it’s important that the work be done correctly to avoid the potential for major damage to your home. Many building codes require that any additions to mobile homes—including decks—be either freestanding or have their own support structures. Getting permits may require submitting the home's original floor plan, the proposed floor plan, framing details, and more.
