"Jose and his team were great. Very professional and friendly, and the newly stained deck looks awesome. They pressure washed one day and came back to sand and put two coats on in one day. We’ll see how it holds up but I feel good about it."

"I used this company for four different times and they always made a excellent job, plus they are very clean. The last ones was for my fence and unfortunately I had some issues with my neighbor but, because the professionalism and the support this company gave to me, I was able to complete the stain and my fence and now it looks great. I highly recommend this company."

"Nick's work on our four season room panels was awesome! It helped us resolve a home owners insurance issue. Nick was very responsive to any questions we had during his work on our room. His costs are very reasonable. We highly recommend Nick!"

"Jim is amazing and he is very good at helping make ideas work. I wanted a banister for my deck and was having a hard time deciding on something I liked. He helped me pick and came up with a beautiful design that matched our home perfectly. He also helped me pick just the right color for some stucco that I had tried 3 different times to get a good color and just wasn't happy with it, then he helped me and it came out perfect. I highly recommend him to others"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Two coats of stain are ideal for the best protection and aesthetic appeal. However, if your decking is made of particularly dense hardwood, you may only need one coat. If you want an intense color, two coats are ideal.

A five-gallon bucket of deck stain will cover roughly 875 square feet in a single coat. Actual coverage will vary based on the type of wood you’re staining and the number of coats. If you plan on doing multiple coats, multiply the square footage by the number of coats to calculate how many buckets of stain you’ll need.

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

You’ll need to restrain your deck when you notice fading, cracking, peeling, or mold and mildew over a moderate to large area, or when it’s become especially difficult to clean. As for how often to stain a deck, plan to do it every two to three years or whenever you start to notice extended damage.

If you have a smooth, already bonded concrete surface, painting a concrete pool deck can be a great way to brighten up the area and add longevity. If the surface has another covering or a different type of paint has been used previously, you won’t be able to paint it without removing the existing coating. Wooden decks benefit from painting as it helps to keep them watertight. Quality pool deck paints also help make the surface less slippery and less likely to gather mold and mildew or prematurely crack.
