"Great communication and on time. Two associates from the company showed up and were very polite and knowledgeable fixed the situation in a timely manner and made sure it was working properly before they left. I found my new go to irrigation shop. Thank you"

"They did a great job clearing the leaves in our yard and hauling them away. Dylan was very good about clearing leaves from corners, decks and the edges against the fence. My only complaint is not getting a call back once we agreed on the price. I tried calling twice and emailing once asking when they would be out. It took 5 days to hear back (that includes the weekend). But, I was very happy with the end result. Definitely will hire them again."

"They laid bedroom carpet which I brought from Minneapolis. They even stretched carpet in another bedroom that had not been laid properly by another company and the carpet had stretched out of shape. They worked very fast and were so pleasant to have on our home. I would highly recommend Marshall's to do anything in my home again. If this was how they handled such a small job, I'm quite certain they would be just as efficient with a large project. Their attention to detail and clean up was more than I expected. I'm very appreciative that I found them and that they made themselves available on the day I needed them. Many thanks

"We had Jordan and his crew replace our roof this summer. Communication was very good throughout the job, very impressed with the work the crew and him did. We also had our front door replaced this winter. Again, top notch work as I’ve come to expect. I would highly recommend Jordan and his crew at Heyer Grounds."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

During the fall, you’re likely to see foliage in stunning shades of orange, red, yellow, and brown. These colors emerge because of a seasonal decline in the pigment chlorophyll that makes leaves green.

Many ways to landscape a steep slope on a budget exist. Avoiding expensive retaining wall construction is the first step. Consider creating a rocky slope with boulders or large stones, or think about planting perennials that return every year with a single investment. Transplanting small trees from elsewhere on your property is also possible and can help to stabilize steep slopes without purchasing new ones.

While you can leave roots in the ground, if you don’t want the shrub to regrow again over time, it’s best not to leave any roots behind. Ensure you remove as much of the shrub as possible, including the root ball and any main roots you can see, to prevent new growth. Some gardeners opt for using a chemical treatment to prevent the stump from growing back, but this can kill beneficial microorganisms living in your soil.

The cost to plant a small tree or sapling is between $100 and $300 on average, if you hire a professional. Big trees will cost more and usually require the work of a specialist, so expect to pay over $1,000 for those.

A green home is one that focuses on conservation, with the goal often being net-zero carbon emissions and self-sustainability. It will often include some kind of self-generation equipment, like solar panels or a small wind turbine, high-efficiency electrical components and mechanicals, and high-quality insulation and air sealing to reduce the loss of conditioned air. Many green homes also include xeriscaping or rainwater collection to cut down on drainage and water consumption.
