"Nothing but great things to say! Brandon is fantastic to work with, and will get the job done! We had construction debris and other junk from our basement taking up the garage for months, and he gave us our space back in less than 30 minutes. The rates are extremely reasonable, and saved me time and money compared to renting a dumpster or truck to haul it all myself. Communication was prompt and he was upfront on pricing and what to expect. 10/10, would work with Elite Item Removal in the future, and will be passing along his info to anyone I know who needs their space back! Thanks for the help Brandon, was a pleasure working and chatting with you!"

"I have only used movers 1 other time, so wasn't aware I needed to schedule movers more than a week in advance. I had called just about every other moving business in Madison before finding Al's, who said my move date would be no problem. Next time, Al's will be the very first I call. Al was very kind and professional to deal with. He called me the night before my move to let me know another move was running long and they would have to be a couple hours late for my move. This was no problem at all for me, however. They called ahead and arrived right around the revised time Al gave me. These three young men were extremely courteous, treated my possessions like gold, carefully wrapping anything that could possibly incur any damage during the move, and worked very quickly. They were top-notch and I'd recommend them to anyone. I will certainly be using Al's for my next move."

Hauling questions, answered by experts

In some areas, tipping garbage and recycling workers around the holidays is a kind and common practice. Tipping between $20 and $50 once a year is a kind gesture for a team you've gotten to know or who does an exemplary job. While tipping junk haulers and waste management pros is not expected, it is a great way to show your appreciation.

Hiring professionals ensures efficient and responsible yard waste removal, protecting property aesthetics and ensuring regulatory compliance. They manage disposal or recycling effectively, reducing the homeowner’s burden of handling heavy or bulky materials.

In most areas, the local sanitation service will take a few small pieces of concrete and other construction debris per pickup at no additional cost, but this varies based on your location. You can contact your sanitation department for more information. In many areas, you’ll need to call for bulk pickup for concrete pieces, which may cost you a small flat fee. If you’re looking to dispose of large amounts of concrete, it’s best to hire a concrete disposal service near you to avoid the process taking weeks or even months.

Yes, many companies recycle concrete, metal, and other materials to minimize landfill waste.

The only packing material that isn’t often recyclable is rubber, but rubber bands aren’t common for packing and moving. Some materials used for moving, like cardboard, paper, and hard plastic, are easy to recycle and can often just go out for regular pickup with your other recyclables, like cans and bottles. Plastic films and packing peanuts can be a bit more difficult to recycle and usually need to go to a dedicated recycling facility that can handle those specific materials.
