I LIKE SMALLER PROJECTS AND COMING UP WITH CREATIVE SOLUTIONS. AREAS OF SERVICE ARE THE IRON RIVER, WI AREA, ASHLAND AND THE SOUTH SHORE, BUT COULD EXTEND TO THE TWIN PORTS. Spend winter months in Florida

When I was 5, mom caught me taking apart a watch and a toaster at my grand parents home. She scolded me, but grandpa insisted that she let me be. I fixed the toaster. The watch, well it didn’t work in the first place. When I was 15, my mom hired my cousin Jim, 10 years my senior, to finish our basement. Being an ever curious young man, I asked Jim questions and he put me to work alongside him. We worked a night or two a week for 2 years. Then Jim became busy raising his own family and work came to a standstill. Mom wanted the basement finished for my older sisters’ graduation. Jim asserted that I could finish it. I wasn’t so sure, but he said he’d tell me what to do over the phone. He did, and the job was completed on time, much to the delight and pride of mom. In 1977 I purchased and lived in a duplex. I graduated Vo-Tech in 1971 with "Outstanding Student" and "Perfect Attendance" Awards. In 1980 I purchased and live in one side of a double bungalow. The ensuing 21 years of pulling permits, passing city, fire department and HUD inspections made for an excellent background to performing construction, installation and repairs properly. From 1972 to 1983 I worked for Gould Battery (also known as GNB). I worked in engineering at the Mendota Heights facility. I was a product and applications technologist, a fancy title, but it contributed to my handyman skills by requiring problem solving. Some of the engineers owned duplexes and we would problem solve together at lunchtime. Hence, many of the jobs I got, challenge me to solve a problem along the way to making the repair, installation. In 1995 I began my Handyman business. In 1997 I sold my duplexes. In 1998, I got my license and became incorporated. Today I enjoy listening for and producing my customers intended results. “Being Of Service - I Love It” John Thomas CEO, The Handyman Can®!!! Inc. "I think we may be on the 3rd or 4th project we've hired him for - everything from hanging Christmas lights to repairing exterior stairs and a bedframe. Always great work, super good at communicating and his price is fair for the piece of mind of knowing he'll get the job done, done well, and if it happens to be something he isn't able to do himself he is upfront and honest about it and will refer you to someone who can do it. Always a great experience with Johnny, our go-to handyman!"

FAQs for mailbox repair projects in Spooner, WI
Brick mailbox repairs cost about $625 on average, ranging from about $500 to $750, depending on the extent of damage, type of brick and mortar, time of year, location, and experience level of the mason doing repairs. Hire a masonry contractor to inspect the brick mailbox’s damage and recommend a repair plan. They can also provide a price estimate that’s specific to your type and size of mailbox.
Yes, it’s usually possible to repair damaged brick mailboxes. If the masonry is damaged, the brick can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. However, the new mortar will likely be different in color from the original mortar joints. In most cases, if the mailbox itself is damaged, it’s possible to cut it out and replace it. Consult a masonry contractor to determine whether it’s worth repairing your brick mailbox based on its value and amount of damage.
Typically, a brick mason will repair a brick mailbox. They can provide an estimate for repairs, which may include sourcing replacement brick, mortar, and other materials. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office to confirm that a brick mailbox is allowed in your location as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes because of the potential hazard for drivers who may hit them.
Homeowners are responsible for maintaining their own mailboxes. Otherwise, a property manager is responsible for repairs and maintenance if the Post Office does not maintain it. If you own your home, you are responsible for maintaining the mailbox at the specified height, distance from the road, and functionality.
Mailbox repair can cost anywhere from $100 to $300, depending on the type of mailbox, materials involved, and labor cost. The estimated cost of repairs also depends on whether you need to replace the mailbox post, the post’s construction, and type of mailbox. If you have multiple mailboxes, the cost will increase compared to a single mailbox.
