PEX pipes last up to 50 years on average, though they often last longer. This lifespan is comparable to that of galvanized steel, which ranges from 40 to 100 years. However, PEX piping is less likely to crack or break due to temperature changes. Due to that and the fact that it's easier to work with, many plumbers and DIYers are choosing PEX tubes over traditional metal piping.
