"This was our third door replaced by Renewal By Anderson, Heritage Window & Door, Superior, WI. Matt & Tyler couldn't have been more professional with the installation and customer service. We look forward to our fourth door replacement coming up this Spring. We can already tell the difference in less draft and more warmth in the area of the new storm door! When the gentlemen left, you couldn't tell anyone was here as their cleanup was spotless!"

"Very professional company. They set up an appointment with me to give me a bid to replace my garage door. They showed up when they said they would. Sent me a quote the next day and estimate as to when to expect delivery from the door company. The door showed as planned and install was scheduled. Jasonâ s installers showed and completed the job quickly and professionally. Being an elderly person, his promptness and expertise was greatly appreciated. I wouldnâ t hesitate to use him again."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"I would like to say that we would use GF Company in the future.
The Positive:
The sales representative, Ken Jr., was astounding.  His knowledge of his field was excellent and I enjoyed talking with him.  He was also very thorough with his estimate and writing down in great detail what we wanted to have done.  I hope we get him as our sales representative when it is time to do our roof or our windows.
The work was done exactly as Ken Jr. had written on the estimate.  For the most part the work matches the current look of the shed and it has already filled the water barrel.
The Negatives:
It was difficult to communicate with GF Company.  We had originally received a quote from Rick a year before the work was done and we contacted GF Company many times to speak with him about getting the work done, but none of our phone calls were returned.  Finally we asked for someone new and we got Ken Jr. sent to us.
After we paid our half-down deposit, we were told that we would get a call in about three weeks to find a date for the work to be done.  After about 5 weeks we tried contacting GF Company.  One phone call had us speaking with a lady on the phone who said that someone would call us back soon, but that never happened.
We never received a call to tell us when the work would be done as we wanted to have someone home to make sure things were done to our specifications.  Several days after our phone call was not returned, we received a text message from our neighbor telling us that someone was doing work on our property, but my wife and I were both at work and by time we got home the work was done.  Since Ken Jr. did such a great job with writing down what we wanted, we did not have any issues with what was done.
It appears that one of the items created on site for our downspout on the shed was likely spray painted on site.  The paint job has already faded, but we can find some paint to paint it again.
Overall, it sounds like we had a bad experience, but we did not.  The work that was done was done well and the sales representative we worked with was very knowledgeable.  We would use GF Company again and recommend them, but encourage folks to have patience with communication.

Doors questions, answered by experts

Sliding doors and pocket doors are both great space savers, but they work a bit differently. A sliding door moves along a track and is always visible, sliding next to a wall or another door. On the other hand, a pocket door slides into a slot in the wall, hiding away completely when it's open. This makes pocket doors a perfect choice if you're looking to maximize every inch of floor space, unlike sliding doors that can still take up some room even when they're open.

Most modern, standard doors are 1 ⅜-inches thick, so you should aim for this thickness unless you're building a door to replace an antique door or fit into a non-standard wall opening. Thickness varies when installing a pocket door or sliding barn door, so a good rule of thumb is to measure your existing door, if possible. For standard doors, you can also measure from the inside of the door to the door stop to gauge the proper thickness.

A door frame is typically 2 to 2.5 inches wider than the door. This additional space accommodates the door jamb and hinges and allows for necessary installation adjustments. For example, if the door is 30 inches wide, the rough opening should be 32 to 32.5 inches wide to ensure a proper fit and smooth operation.

High-tech solutions and strategic placement can help ensure the safety of your pet door. Pet doors can pose security risks, as well as the risk of stray or wild animals entering your home, but modern pet doors offer options like collar-based sensors to ensure doors will only open for your pet, and installing a pet door in an out-of-sight location or in a wall rather than a door can help to avoid intruders using the door to gain access to your home.

A door sill is the horizontal part of the door frame at the bottom, while a door jamb consists of the vertical parts of the frame on either side. The door sill serves as a threshold, sealing the bottom of the door, while the door jamb provides structural support and houses the hinges and latch. Both are essential components of a door frame, with the door sill acting as a transition point and the door jamb providing stability and functionality.
