"The project was repairing a drain pipe between two ponds that had been blocked for years. The solution wasn’t obvious so the approach needed multiple options. A study and review of the site and situation revealed some settling in the asphalt driveway covering the 3” PVC drain pipe. Robert brought a concrete saw to the site so he cut a one foot square in the asphalt and excavated about a foot down exposing the pipe. At this point he could see the pipe had an old splice in it that hadn't been attached so soil washed out over time and blocked the pipe. Robert was prepared for this and had brought necessary parts to make a permanent repair. A garden hose was used to remove the old debris from the line and soil replaced into the hole and a cold patch applied to repair the asphalt. Robert did an excellent job and obviously has a heart to solve customers problems and enjoys what he does. I would recommend you at least contact him no matter the problem and see what he thinks."

Owned and operated by Ryan Lemke, Handyman HQ provides expert repair and installation services across the Fox Valley from our base in Kaukauna. Before fully dedicating myself to home services, I spent years in healthcare leadership, trained in Lean Six Sigma problem-solving. This means I don't just swing a hammer; I bring exact precision and analytical troubleshooting to every appliance repair, or plumbing, electrical, and drywall project I take on. I know the biggest frustration homeowners have is unreliable contractors. My philosophy is simple: I treat your home with clinical care, prioritize crystal-clear communication, show up exactly when I say I will, and leave the workspace spotless.

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

You should start pool construction and installation in April or May to enjoy Sheboygan’s short summer season. Delaying past June means missing out on prime swimming months. If you notice structural cracks or liner issues, address them immediately before winter. Wisconsin freeze-thaw cycles expand water in cracks and worsen damage. Submit permit applications by late winter to avoid spring delays.

Helpful?

Watch for cracked decking or bowing pool shells, which indicate severe freeze-thaw damage or hydrostatic pressure from Sheboygan clay soils. Persistent water loss and sunken ground point to poor drainage or failing plumbing lines. You should redo past pool construction and installation if the electrical system lacks proper grounding or if the barrier fencing fails to meet current WI safety requirements.

Helpful?

Proper planning makes pool construction and installation run smoothly. First, secure a local building permit and complete a zoning review to confirm property setbacks. You must also contact the state utility hotline before excavation begins. Since Sheboygan features heavy clay soils and varying groundwater levels near Lake Michigan, assess your yard for proper drainage. Finally, check your neighborhood for restrictive homeowners association rules.

Helpful?

Completing pool construction and installation by late spring provides a warm alternative to chilly Lake Michigan waters during the short summer. Over the long term, a well-maintained pool boosts property value in the Sheboygan market. Building your pool to strict WI state codes ensures fewer compliance issues if you sell your home. Proper initial setup also makes annual winterization easier, extending the structure's lifespan.

Helpful?

When planning pool construction and installation, account for the local climate. Sheboygan experiences over 140 frost days annually, requiring durable materials that withstand freeze-thaw cycles. Cool summer nights cause rapid heat loss, making a pool heater or solar cover essential. You must also install mandatory fencing and proper electrical grounding to meet WI safety codes. Finally, plan for stormwater management to handle heavy clay soils.
