"I am leaving a review for Matt for two reasons. First, I would like to comment on my personal experience with Matt as a professional painter/small business owner and, even more, as a human being. Matt was, at all points, professional, timely, honest, accommodating and knowledgable as to how to help me with a few things regarding my damaged walls, aside from painting. Knowing I was hoping to have my home painted sooner than later, he even offered to see if he could talk to another client so as to accommodate my needs of moving forward quickly (I am renting my home). Which brings me to the 2nd reason I am leaving a review. Matt has, through no fault of his own, become caught up with a horrifying former tenant of mine. The review left below by Amanda W. is not a fair nor accurate representation of the truth or of Matt and his business. There is a lot to this story but, without getting into the details, I am just hoping that Matt's business does not suffer as a result of my evicting/renting to these people. Matt was one of the painters I had come to my home to give me an estimate with regards to fixing the damaged walls and repainting, necessitated by the actions of my former tenants. When my lawyer sent out the initial letter stating how their security deposit would be used (aside from unpaid rent and other damages), she sent the quotes from the three painters I had give estimates, Matt being one of them. She "knew" Matt as she had, in one of her many inane acts, previously invited him into the home, pretending to be the owner. His "helping" me actually demonstrates his character. Through a bizarre twist in this terrifying experience as a landlord, I received a message from a mutual friend of Matt's and mine, asking if she could give him my number as he didn't think my tenants were very honorable...That was my first experience with him-him taking time out of his day to let me know some of the shady things that he experienced with them. Later, I did have him meet my mom at the house to provide an estimate. He, in no way, should be on the receiving end of this for simply giving an estimate to bring my home back to a livable space. At the end of the day, I feel responsible that he is being brought into this craziness that has come from the process of evicting Amanda W and her husband. By my lawyer forwarding the three estimates, Matt's being one, she went off on another tirade that has very little to do with the truth or reality. She has left this review on various sites such as this and I have been attempting to help have them removed, as I hate that someone else is being affected by her horribleness. We have been successful in having some of them taken down but other sites, such as this, just advise that I leave my own review to counter what she has claimed here. I could get into a long list of crazies that I have experienced with this woman/couple to further amplify the reality of the situation, but I am just hopeful that you won't let an angry, dishonest and horrifying woman's claim stop you from calling Matt. Talk to him yourself. See his work; it speaks for itself."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

If you can already see the texture of the existing wallpaper through the layer of paint, then the texture could also come through the new layer of wallpaper. If that’s the aesthetic you want, then proceed. But if you want a smoother surface, you should either strip off the existing paint and wallpaper or hang a layer of liner paper before proceeding.

Because replacing pool tiles requires fully draining your pool, it’s a great opportunity to complete other projects. You may want to replace your pool’s vinyl liner or repair cracks. You might also replace your swimming pool heater or even take on the cost of resurfacing your pool. Resurfacing, although relatively costly, can help prolong the lifespan of your pool.

Yes, you can apply peel-and-stick wallpaper over wood paneling, but it requires significant preparation for a good result. Peel-and-stick wallpaper has a weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper and works best on smooth, non-textured surfaces like painted or primed drywall. Because wood paneling is often textured with grooves, any flaws in the underlying surface will likely be visible after application. To prepare the paneling, you must ensure the surface is free of cracks, holes, and protrusions by filling any indentations and sanding rough spots to create a smooth surface. An alternative is to remove the paneling and apply the wallpaper directly to the underlying drywall or plaster, provided it is in good condition.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

When choosing materials for finishing basement walls, consider factors such as moisture resistance, durability, and fire resistance. Opt for materials specifically designed for basement environments, like moisture-resistant drywall or cement board. Insulation with vapor barriers can help regulate temperature and prevent condensation. Consider using mold-resistant paints or coatings.

Research and consult with experts to select materials that are suitable for your specific basement conditions and intended use. Prioritize quality and compatibility to achieve long-lasting and aesthetically pleasing results.
